Finally Got A Set Of 2003 Mirrors

Chevy Thunder, are you talking about the power folding ones. One of the newer members just installed a pair of pwr extending mirrors and knows about all the wiring. If you do go through with the pwr folding ones put plans up on the site.

I did that mod of adding the pwr extending to my '02. It was great and works awesome when hauling a trailer. Only issue I have is that my switch to extend/retract isnt as "clean" as I wish that it was. But I needed a DPDT switch and a large toggle was all I could find at the moment I did the install.

(y)Thanks to Pendlum for his help with the wiring into the BCM for the turnsignals!! WOO HOO...it all works now, just in time to head north and get the sleds on the trails after Christmas!!

see ya
Rick

Can you post pics on this of both the mirrors and the wiring as well.

anyone checked into the new mirrors on the GMC pickups... i saw some with turn signal LEDs in the mirror on an ad sent to me by GM but havent looked at them on the lot. maybe some of the GMC stuff would work.

Hey, what I'm really interested in is getting the mirrors to automatically tilt down and in when you hit "Reverse". Lexas has that on some of their cars. It is a great feature for backing into parking spots. Anyone out there cleaver enough figure out how to do this?

Hey guys, both are these options are available on the US editions of the 2003 avalanche.

Auto tilt when placed in reverse and trun signal LED's in the morror face are both available but can they be retro fitted into a 2002? That is a question for our more qualified modders on the board. I'm sure that someone will pipe up soon enough with an answer.

My 03 has the newer mirros with the LED and tilt down/fold in features. Only major issue I can think of is the programming of the tilt down feature when in reverse. In my 03 I can program both, driver or passenger and set the degree, but requires the buttons on the steering wheel. Without those I don't think you can program them.

Okay, I finally got a set of 2003 mirrors, with the signal, power folding etc.

I'm going to start playing with them and see how I can get them hooked up to my truck (2000 Silverado). This would take care of all you 2002 and previous (Tahoes, Subs, Etc) owners that love these mirrors.

Its easy, I put folding 02 Cadillac mirrors in my 02 AV then traded it for an 03. Someone has a 02 with folding mirrors from my blood and sweat !! I used Cadillac folding swith, remote mounted, and modified fog light switch with cadillac switch button grafted to it. Looked factory when done. I have pics somewhere.

Mike

p.s whats up with the chrome door handles that say black on you site JP ?

let me know when you get them to work on the AV I want a set (Summit White) also what is the cost

So I can get the 03 Av side mirrors to put on my 02 Av. So it is so.

The outer colored piece is reused from your mirror. When I got the Cadillac mirrors the front panel comes primed black. You can either paint them or remove yours and reinstall them on new mirrors. That was the easiest part of the whole deal.

Mike

I have an 03 without the folding mirrors. Would this be harder or easier than putting them on an 02?

Interested in seeing any pics and instructions on doing this.

What about the switch?

Thanks

I would think adding the 2003 mirrors to a 2003 would be easier than to a 2002. The 2003 mirrors use completely different connectors than the 2002's so I'll be cutting it off and using a different connector.

I'll let everyone know.

When I checked the price of the mirrors new, they were around $450-$500 EACH
You really have to like mirrors for that upgrade price.

Gotta add my own mirror story! Noticed a small crack at the bottom of the glass on the drivers side mirror. Don't know how it happened, no impact as far as I know. The next day sticky liquid stuff started leaking out of the crack and dropping onto the running board. To da dealer I go! Ordered me a replacement under warranty, gotta get the whole mirror, can't buy just the glass, cost $375. (02 heated) I was told the sticky stuff is what is heated to keep the glass warm. Old mirror has the little heat squigglys, new one doesn't but it still heats. New one did come black primered, popped of the old front painted shell and put it on the new mirror. The whole thing is held on with three small nuts accessable from the inside of the door. Then it looked like a 4 or 6 pin plug-in. Off and on in about 15 minuted ouside in the snow! ;D

I have an 02 Summit White NFE. I like the LED turn signals in the mirrors on the 03's. Is it possible to retro-fit my 02 with these?

Thanks,
Jeff
