Well, here goes....
Our first Official GTG
What:Meet, mod, and eat -- MAYBE MORE.
Date/Time:Saturday September 27th, 2003. at 1 p.m. in the afternoon.
Where:Kensington Metropark Info & Directions
The Plan:
Meet at Kensington Metropark (specific location in park TBD) at 1pm. We will all have a chance to meet one another, check out each others mods and enjoy the outdoors. There is lots to do at Kensington, Including hiking, biking (helmets required), swimming, boat tours, frisbee golf etc. I'll also bee bringing a frisbee or 2, maybe some horseshoes, etc. Check out the link above for all the details, and directions. According to their website admission to the park is $4 per car, but I thought they changed it recently to $6, not positive.
We will be hopefully doing some mods at this event . If you have any mods planned, maybe you could hold off until the meet, so that others can "see how it's done". Please don't forget to bring any tools you may need, I will bring my toolbox, but make sure you have any specialized tools you may need.
Anyone planning to attend that does not have the amber daylight running lights, let me know. I will be providing these to members that don't have them already. My treat.
I am also planning to have a few other items/mods to give away/raffle at this event. I don't have a definite list list yet, but wanted to get started on planning the event. I will post more details as they become available.
UPDATE
Here is a list of what we will be giving away, etc. (more to come)
At some time in the afternoon, I will fire up a grill, and have the basic hotdog/hamburgers for everyone. I will be providing the hotdogs/hamburgers. Those that are planning to attend, please bring your own beverages (alcohol and Av's don't mix) and if anyone wants to volunteer to bring some sides, chips, deserts, etc for the group, that would e helpful. Because I/we will be bringing food, please try not to RSVP unless you are certain you are coming. I understand that things change, but I would rather not have to buy food that we will not use. Also when you RSVP, let me know how many friends/family members you are gonna try to fit in your Av. (more will fit if you tansform and stack them in the back)
I was also considering a small cruise. This is tentative.... There is still an open Drive-In theater between Fenton and Flint. We could head up there, would be about a 45 mile cruise (one-way), we could do mostly freeway, or take the backroads...up to you guys... I think it would be great to a have all the Av's lined up, and transormed for everone to see. The only thing is that I won't be able to tell you what will be showing the weekend of the gtg until we get closer to the 27th. Their ticket prices are $6 and you get 2 movies per screen. They have 2 screens, so you can mix/match what movies you want to see...they have first run movies, so chances are there will be something good showing..
I am also going to make my backyard available for tents, if anyone is coming from a great distance. I have a good size backyard, and it would be cool to see a bunch of Av's in my driveway, etc. Anybody is welcome to stay, but I wanted to make sure there was someplace for those who may not want to drive for hours after a long day...
I am pretty sure I covered everything, if not be lenient on me....it is my first try...
Well there you have it. Let me know if I left anything out, or you have any other ideas.
I have asked AvalancheXXX to keep an eye on this thread while I am gone on vacation. I will be leaving him with instructions to contact me should he need to find out any important information. I will try to check in a couple times, but will depend on what my family has planned for me in Florida.
Hope to see you all soon...
Brian
