Floor Mats?

What is the best kind of mats for our trucks? My factory ones suck and my grey carpet is going down hill fast..

Which factory ones do you have? Mine are the bid deep rubber mats with that cool bowtie. They seem to be dooing a great job but I dont ever let it get too dirty. Gm makes full mats with carpet in matching carpet colors.

I concur with Tex... I just pull mine out, shake 'em off, put 'em back and wipe 'em with one of those pre-packed disposable cleaner wipe things.

Aloha,
Murman

Weathertech & Husky both make plastic/rubber floormatts with an upper lip around the edges to hold crap in. I've seen them around 50-60 for the front pair and around 60 for the back section.

What about those Catch-All X-Treme mats. They mold completely around the floor with a lip as well.

They look pretty good. Gotta find a link to a picture to post here.

I like the STOCK Z66/Z71 rubber mats...It held a lot of coke that spilled out of a can for me........

Durable heavy does not move when installed.....

Keep your factory mats and pick up some of those $1 carpet samples from the flea mkt. Throw one over each floor mat and when the get dirty throw them away and get a couple of new ones.

Every Chevy dealership has access to Lloyd Mats, maker of high-quality aftermarket mats. Lloyd Mats has licensed the Chevy/GM logos so they can be embroidered into their carpeted mats.

These mats are excellent, carpet (they have two grades, standard and heavy duty) and the heavy duty carpet is terrific quality, maybe the best I've seen in any car/truck.

The problem, in my opinion, with the Chevy mats and the Lloyd Mats is that they don't cover enough of the floor! The front passenger side mat just sits in the lowest part of the floor leaving an entire section of the Av's factory floor carpet exposed to dirt, wear and tear.

What I want is a custom mat that provides a lot more coverage and protection for both driver and passenger sides...

I was vacuuming my Av just the other day and thought the same thing - why didn't they make the mats bigger?

I like the look and design of the mats, but they should at least go to the door sill plate. The drivers side needs to be about an inch bigger around the perimeter.

And what's with the cutout under the gas pedal? No protection right where your foot sits.

OK, I'm done complaining - I still love my truck. :B:

I am also looking into getting either a Husky or Catch-all type mat (ones with the higher edges) for my Avy. The rubber Chevy mats are good they just don't cover enough of the floor or hold all the melted snow from boots in the winter. They are perfect for summer time around here though.

I like my factory mats. We don't get much snow down here in Louisiana so I have not had the snow melting problem. Maybe I will have that problem when we move to Colorado.

I just cut out some oversized pieces of leftover home carpet to cover up the entire footwell area. I've done this with all my vehicles for winter. It really absorbs all the winter/salty crap well, keeping it from getting on the Av carpet.

The products at foxweather look interesting, if they're durable enough.. ?Looks like they might work well as a complete coverage solution, and still allow regular mats to fit within? ?I'm looking for something that can contain all the debris (snow, mud, sand) w/o letting the stuff seep into/under the edges of the carpet. ?I've used the Husky-type liners before and the raised edges had a tendancy to catch a foot during ingress/egress.

Oh yeah, new guy here, awaiting an '03 Z71. :)

Cool Handle.....I really like it for some reason ;D

I learned more about floormats than I wanted to. My Z66 did not have the floor mats when I picked it up. The dealer said they would order them for me. After waiting two weeks, I received the standard carpet version. I agree that these are not up to the task of keeping the carpet clean and do not look like they will last long.

When I called them on it, they claimed that according to my VIN number, these are the ones I should have. They kept sticking to this story even though "Aggressive Floormats with Yellow Chevy Bowtie" were identified right on the sticker! Its not like I negotiated for free mats to be thrown in with the deal.

I finally got them to order the correct mats, only to find out (by my calling them to check after delivery date had passed) that the sales manager had cancelled the order because they had "already taken care of me".

After three more weeks, I finally convinced them I wasn't trying to scam them out of upgraded mats and they delivered the correct mats.

In summary, the rubber mats are a significant improvement over the carpet, but even then, I agree they are still a little too small.

Oops, sorry for the triple post. Its not that interesting even to me. :-[

The Z71/Z66 rubber mats are great, but I wanted to cover more. I ended up getting a set of Black Armor mats. They are relatively thin, flexible, and have a high lip to hold in melting snow. The back seat runner goes the whole width, covering the center "hump". The best part is that they conform exactly to the floor contours, and the thick factory rubber mats fit inside very well.

The foxweather ones ChR1s speaks of also looked interesting, I don't recall why I didn't go with those.

I have the Catch-All mats and have to say if they made them for them for my other vehicles I'd buy them for those also (y) Truly worth the cash  They stay in place with a very nice carpet screw-down system and so far have been catching all of the dirt/sawdust/woodchips/stones/etc. that I seem to get into ;)

I've had Husky liners in my bronco & jeep, great mats with the lip and all, however, I went with the catch-all premium liners for the Avalanche.

The Husky liners are plastic and that combined with a tall truck, more than once myself or my passengers foot would "slide" when planting it to jump up in the truck. The other drawback to the plastic liner was that as the snow melted from my boots, It had nowhere to go and unless "bailed" would end up sloshing out of the liner whilst jumping curbs, snowbanks etc. defeating the purpose of the mat.

The catch-all X-treme are a softer rubber than the Husky liners and may stop the "banana" effect, however, the premium ones are a perfect match to the carpet so it looks like you don't have mats, yet the floor is completely covered. The carpet on the mats is scotchguarded and rubber backed, so they soak everything up and you just hose them clean after the trip.

You can see the X-treme and the premium for the Avalanche at the link below. My .02 or .01 after taxes.
