:B: My Gold Bow Tie on the front of AVA has a rock chip :9:

Are those expensive to buy as a replacement?? :8:

Additionally, She (since I am a girl, she it too )
needs a name plate on the front...she looks bare...

I am looking for something maybe in that pewter mirrored, since she is Dk Grey....any companies you guys know make personalized name plates??

Thank you
Sherr

I can send you mine...I have a billet one and don't need it anymore

actually mine is cracked too .... if you want a custom painted bow tie check out hits thread:

You can get a custom one from a couple of different Site Vendors/Sponsors. I got mine from carriles for $45 including shipping. Actually I picked it up at a GTG. I'm not real familiar with the others, but I haven't heard anything bad about any of them. Or you could just pay the $15 or so from your dealer for the plain old yellow one.

Many good site sponsors here have full replacement bowties. One of the club members - TribalAV works for a decal company that does great work for a very reasonable prices. You can email Larry there at TribalAV@austin.rr.com and tell him what you would like decal wise and he will get back to you very quickly.

You can completely replace your bowtie with a custom made one for around $45 or you can also put a nice custom decal over your current one for around $10. Either option adds a great custom look to your Av.

Happy modding Sherr

had the same problem with mine.. little crack that most didn't notice, but i did! and carriles hooked me up.. pretty purple bowties with a raised eyebrow smilie.. (i had to do purple bowtie and decals.. now it's a girly truck) :B:

Hiya BlondeSherr,
I picked up a Waving American Flag from someone here on the forums. Can not remember who it was. Gives the AV a nice patriotic touch. If you want to see it I can take a pic and post it.

Have not seen you on the boards here in a while. How goes the job hunt? Did you end up moving away from Atlanta?

definitely checkout what Carriles has to offer. money much better spent with Les and Carrie rather than at the dealer. custom bowtie or plain bowtie?

Thanks for the recognition guys.

Sherr, I do have many different painted bowties to offer. Or the stock bowtie can be ordered from your local parts counter. If you have cladding then your part # is 15077065 the price will be around $22
If your AV does not have cladding then your part # is 12335700 and the price will be around $30 or more.

Either way, I hope you have luck replaceing your bowtie. I know the feeling knowing that you have something wrong with your "baby"

Happy shopping (y)

p.s.
Here is one that I made useing your paint. This one belongs to Tinman
It is known as the "Wink" bowtie this is actually chrome on a painted bowtie and clearcoated. I know the pic is not the best, but you get the Idea. This is one of the most popular design within the club.

I am not trying to sell you a bowtie, just giving you ideas.
You can also try the JoeW bowties, he does fine work ;D
I hope I have helped with the part #'s

AVA guys are the nicest guys.... Why the heck are most of you already married ??? ??? :E:

;D

Since 'Sqwatch lives in GA, (meaning it would cheapest to mail from GA to GA) I'd like to send him some money for his bowtie. Is $5 fair??

NOW, the real question is,

Can a Blonde that isn't "handy" and has nails REALLY take off the old one and put on the new one...without breaking, tearing, snapping or bruising a:
*body part
*my Sweet AVA

With me not working for most of the last two years, I am trying to get my "money right" and some things paid down...so I kind of get freaked when I think of adding MODS to Ava, since I love her so much the way she is....
(And D*mn lucky to still have her after my layoff in Aug.)

Its just hard to keep her on the road and pay a mortgage. ya know??
I still want a smoke mirror plate for the front that says "SHERR" since we don't have to have a front plate on ours here in GA, and I am having the darnest time find one for "her".

Sherr

Yes, I do, but I was born with it.

Seriously, the bowtie comes off pretty easily.
After seeing a photo of the back of one posted here on the site, I gave it a try and it came right off.

Two tabs on the back "hook" into two slots.
Press the tab to release the "hook" and push the tab out of the slot.

I'll try to find that photo and post a link.

My son bought me a Swing 'N load plate at the big mall in Nashville TN. Is is strange to me how they made it and I have no idea what they cost. They are made of plexiglass with a mirror finish. He has the letters lazer cut out from the back side, just cuts through the mirrow coating, then he just takes a magic marker and fills in what is now clear and WALA, it looks great! I have no idea what they cost but they look as good as stainless steel and I bet they are lot less. I think they will hold up well because the coating is on the back side. I will try to get a pic later if you are intrested. The only thing...........they did not have the font that I use for my Swing 'N Load business.

Hey,

These guys here: Custom Autoplates

do a great job, matter of fact I just ordered another plate this afternoon for our new Av. They do all kinds of plates, mine is the acrylic laser tag with inlaid chrome lettering. Cost about 25-30 bucks. Call 1-888-605-2572 and ask for the engraving order dept. The picture below doesn't do it justice......

The way I take mine off is I put a piece of electrical tape on the tip of a screwdriver (so as not to scratch anything), put the screwdriver between the powerbar and bowtie and just use it like a lever to pop that bad boy out, and the new one snaps right in. Once you're used to it you can do the swap in just a few seconds.

Go with carriles custom bowties. I can say froma bad experience that his paint does stand up very well.(ie front end destroyed except for the bowtie) not even a scratch. If you want the factory bowtie I can ship mine anywhere free no shipping costs involved. Just PM me.

Blonde not every AV man is married or taken.

:B: -BD- :B:

Well how about this we could meet, and I could also install it for you! Takes about 2 mins tops! You do not have a billet or speed grille installed? Plus I am nice single guy that owns an avalanche!!

2003 Dark Grey Metallic & Sunset Orange---I think they would go together rather nicely!

Butch

BlondeSherr,

With all the offers of free bowties you can almost start your own bowtie business. Good luck on your new/replacement bowtie.
