hey guys i just bought me a pair of 22's all around and now i'm looking into tyres. i'm getting a 3/5 djm drop kit... thats if it will work. anybody done this setup yet? and as for tyres i want something that looks like the toyo proxies s/t. i heard that 305/40/22 s rub is that right? can i get some feedback on what setups you guys have? like i said before i got 22 x 9 6 on 5.5 and i want to drop the truck 3/5 and i need to know what size tyres will work or what it takes to make them work. also how much does it cost to mount tyres onto the rims? i mean for all 4? thanks again

Note: i wouldn't mind keeping a nice ride so no 20 sidewalls k? >:D

Wholey Smoke Man... :2:

What in the world is going on with the AV?

Did you get into some clashes with the Chief and play Bumper AVs or something?

Looks like yours is going through some big changes and couldn't find any pics on your site(s) suggesting the changes.

Also, looks like you are trying to make it an all wheel drive street racer, instead of going the "Flyin' High" route. No more 'splash downs' for you... (y)

Oh, nice bike too, not familiar with the Gixxers, what year and size is it?

hey BigRed, here is some info for you. i took that size you were interested in and came up with this info.
with 305/40/22 you will have the same overall diameter as the stock wheel. this means no errors on your speedo. nor will you tranny get the wrong signals.
however, this is a wider tire that will rub from what i have heard. alternative tire sizes would be a 295/40/22. the overall diameter is 31.3 opposed to the 31.6 that comes on the stock tire height. this means your speedo will read 1% faster. if your speedo says you are traveling at 60 mph you are actually going 59.4mph.
another tire to consider is the 285/45/22. with an overall diameter of 32.1. this tire will read 1.6% faster. when your speedo says 60mph you are going 60.9mph.
neither tire causes too much of a signal difference. they could be used with no harm done. if you really want to get sophisticated you could get a tuner to correct for the new tire size.
i do not know if this helps. in case you are wondering how i came up with these numbers check out Tires. :B:

i forgot to tell you this... type in stock tire size, new tire size, and hit calculate. it will give you the results. if you want to play around with different tire sizes, and get instant readings hit the "back to calculator" button. have fun! :B:

no porb in the speedo area i have the hypertech system that re-cals everything for me. >:D and i just got me a set of pirellis. i can't wait! went with 305/40/22. so what do i need to trim? i'm planing on lowered her 3 in front and 5 in the back...will this work?

~BIGRED

i think it will work...i think. you will definitely have too trim the cladding for turning clearance. i think the areas you will need to concentrate on will be the front & rear outside edge of the wheel well.
anyone think anything different? BigRed needs your opinions!

here's my new wheel's....proud father..wheather has been bad, so excuse the rainy pic... >:D >:D >:D

NJAV,
I was thinking of getting those centerlines also, dont worry I am far enough away that we wont have the same rims in the same town. Do you have any advice on were to buy them? I am haveing trouble getting quotes on them. one guy told me $900 for 20's and 1200 for 22's no tires. another company told me 450 for 20's and 650 for 22's. any advice?

I saw Kuff's truck this weekend with 22's. I'm 99% sure they were 305/40's. He had to trim the front edges of the cladding, and I think him, or one of his friends said they were still rubbing a bit.

Dave, ?the Centerline STINGRAY rims are very nice and I've love to have a set of them. ?I was floored by the price on the chrome versions, about $750 each. ?The polished are more afforable. ?

If I wasn't getting my EPICS for free ?>:D I would have gone with the Stingrays.

the Stingray is sweet. but, the price is pretty steep. i decided to go with the Chevy SSR wheel in 22in size. a set will cost $1950. they are chromed as well. the Stingray will cost $3000 a set at that price. then you still have tires to deal with. :(
