OK, now these just went in today, so I haven't had a chance to time test them. But I wanted to let everyone know about another hi/lo beam replacement bulb option.

I picked up the GE "Super Blue Halogen" bulbs at Wal-Mart today for ~$18/pair. The 9005 & 9006's I bought are clearly marked "Made in Germany" on the back of the package and the bulbs are labeled with a GE "DOT" sticker. Under that label is the European "ECE" stamp, "Made in Germany" and some other stuff I don't remember. They look nearly identical to the factory supplied Phillips bulbs. (which are also made in Germany) The ONLY differences are the GE sticker and the blue glass. My guess is that these ARE brand labeled Phillips bulbs.

An auto lighting info site I found last week was steering people away from Any of the "blue" bulbs from the Far East (like the cheapies on EBay) and pushing the major brand European bulbs. (I think that some additional performance is required to carry the ECE rating, but can't remeber exactly??) So when I saw these, I thought they were Well Worthy of a trial! ;)

Anyway, they look great! ;D NO blue ricer tint, just lotsa bright white light! I noticed a brightness difference even at noon, and it was Finally sunny today!) The 1st trial tonight was impressive! Overall reach, pattern and whiteness of the lights were all way beyond my expectations!

If you're still waiting due to the high cost of other options, and don't want to waste money on junk - I Urge you to Check These Out! (Another plus - you know Wal-Mart will gladly accept returns if you're not happy.) Also, if you've used these GE/Phillips bulbs, please share your experiences!

BTW - I also replaced the DRL's with Sylvania 4157NALL's and the fogs with Sylvania 885 Halogens today. I know the fogs won't be as white as the new headlights, but that's OK! The whiter light of a super blue/silverstar/etc... will diminish, not inhance their performance in inclement weather. The same site I mentioned earlier said that amber fog lights are the best for penetrating rain, snow and fog. They said that older clear lights (more yellow) would also suffice, but strongly urged against the newer, whiter lights like the super blues. I know most of you realize this, and you might not need 'em for fog/rain/snow but I wanted to share this info anyway!

Sorry to write a book, but I really hope this helps somebody!

Later! :)

I bought the 9006 twin pack @ Wally today and when I went to put them in, I could not plug them into the plug because the grooves on the inside of the plugs did not fit together. The Av plug had 2 grooves in it and the replacement bulb only had a single ridge in the middle of the inside of the plug and it would not fit.

Now I've decided to bring these back and go with The Silverstars, will I have the same problem?    ???

Silverstars provide a decent enough alternative to a high priced HID kit if you consider how much cheaper they are BUT they burn out after only 150 hours.  I'm not sure but I think part of the reason Silverstars are what they are is due to overdriving of the filament which would account for earlier burn outs.  I've had to replace 2 or 3 bulbs in the past two years until I finally just gave up completely and the wife won't let me get HIDs.  :6:

I 'wasted' money on Silverstars. And didn't have the money for HIDS so I  went with Streetglow 100W 9005's, Streetglow 80W 9006's, Streetglow 885 50W fogs, Hella 500's on a Westin bull bar.

I did the 'all6on' mod so now when I turn on the highs I get lows, highs, and the driving lights.  :D

Careful with those 885's some folks melted their housings with them. My (cooler) 893's hadn't yet.

Well i wish this thread was here yesterday....lol  i just bought the Silverstars today part #'s 880st, (lover driving lights) 9005st (lows) 9006st (highs) i noticed them to be not as bright as i thought.....  maybe i am just not used to white light or something i will be pleased if tonight when i get out of work i can see further  x'ing fingers.  Advanced auto  had all and paid 123.18  i thought that was alot.
