Guages....Difference Between

GUEST
Greetings all, I am looking at getting some extra guages (Vacuum Boost, Fuel Pressure, and Pyrometer) and found that I like the AutoMeter and Cobalt. However, I am not sure why the Cobalt are so much more. Does anyone have any suggestions or insite. I am wanting to try and keep the same color/look pattern in the truck so I am looking at getting Black face with white lettering. Thanks
Dark :)

Unfortunately, I don't have any input for you, but...

I'm interested in how you plan to mount these. Particularly interested to know if you are going to use a pillar pod, what have you found? I've been told that Auto Meter offers one for 2 guages (2-1/16") on the left hand pillar, have you found any others?

I am planning on getting a Full A-Piller triple pod from WJS Performance.

http://www.wjsperformance.com/Specials/autometer.htm

I am going to go with Auto Meter gauges "Z-Series" to cover Manual Vacuum Boost for the Super charger (once I get it. I thought I would go ahead and install the gauge and have it ready for later.), Fuel Pressure for the change in pressure with the supercharger, but can use it for fun right now, and finally PyroMeter for the exhaust temp to better monitor fuel/Air mix. I would go with a Fuel/Air only but WJS Performace stated they tried every brand of Fuel/Air on the market and non of them worked properly but one by SPA. However, SPA fuel/Air gauge runs $3900 and is not worth the price when a Pyrometer will give the same TYPE of information based on exhaust temp. I hope all this makes sense.

I was told the tri-pod will run $60 plus $25 to paint. However they would paint for free if I order the gauges from them. So I think I am going to. As I move forward in this project I will keep this posting updated.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the infor Dark.

Do you know the part number for 3-gauge pillar pod?

I appreciate you help, wish you good luck and look forward to hearing about your success. ;D

I am not sure of the part number for the 3-gauge piller yet, but once I do. I will post everything. From part numbers to before and after pics.

Any updates yet? I'm really interested in a tri or dual gauge pod for the a-pillar. who makes them for a 2002 avalanche?

Hey guys...

I want to install a trany temp gauge on my pillar.  I was just wondering where do I tap into the line on the sending unit?  Where is it located under the dash at??  Thanks

Any ideas on pillar mounted gauges?  Where to get them at?

Also when towing a trailer what temp is bad?  What temp do I not want to go over?
