Hi All,
Yesterday I got an Audio/Video Entertainment System installed in my Avalanche.

Here are the details:

Pioneer- In Dash AM/FM CD Monitor
XM Satellite Radio Installed
7" Widescreen Overhead Monitor installed on headliner
Stand Alone DVD that reads MP3's, CDR & CDRW
PS2 which can be removed at will
3 Wireless Digital headphones
500W amp and 10" Sub
Muti Input/Output A/V Switcher w/wired remotes

Each monitor can have separate inputs or the same....
Meaning we can listen or watch XM, AM/FM, CD or DVD up front... while the kids can watch... a DVD, listen to music, or play PS2 in the rear with sound to match through the wireless headphones.

I'll post pics when I get home from work if anyones interested. ;D

Oh please do post some pics. ?I would like to see where you fit all those parts to your install.
Your truck also has a great paintjob. :0:

I got to see the pictures!!

Wife wants to know if you live in it? LOL Is there room left for a Jaquzzi Tub?? >:D

Alrighty...I took a whole bunch of pics to share with my AV Family. ;D
I have some comments too...

Here are some pics of the Pioneer In-Dash Monitor AM/FM CD XM Ready Receiver. ?I really like it! ?The screen is fully motorized. It only has one drawback...and that is you have to be careful when closing it or opening it while not in DRIVE. When you turn the ignition off...it can bump the gear shift...when in PARK... as the monitor automatically retracts. I have already gotten into the habit of pushing the close button as I pull in the driveway...or if I'm parked to remember to pull the shifter forward a little as it closes or opens. It's no biggy now. Enough said. It also has a detachable face and screen saver.

Here are the XM details. I am very pleased with the antenna installation. It's hardly noticeable. It's located at the very back of the roof in the center just in front of the sail. The sound quality is great. You really can hear the difference.
XM Antenna View from Rear I stood on the bumper to take this one.

The overhead monitor is a 7" widescreen TFT Monitor with various view modes.

3 Wireless Digital Headphones

A Remote Eye for the stand-alone DVD is located on the front passenger side.

The A/V input/output box is mounted under the passenger front seat and can accomodate up to 4 different sources. There are two wired remote switchers. One located on the cupholders in front of the bench seat. The other is located in the back behind the center console.

Rear Remote Switch

The 10" Subwoofer sits under the driverside rear seat. It just barely fits...we might try to modify that a little bit for a better fit. The 500W 2 channel amp is mounted in the center on the floor under the back seat also. The DVD player is mounted under the passenger rear seat and is fairly easy to access....Whoever is sitting back there just has to reach down to swap disks.

Last but not least is the PS2. ?The only place left to put it was up front and center under the dashon the floorboard. ?Its easy to get to and its hard wired and we can just unplug it and take it out as we please.
Playstation 2

Ok....I'M Done! ?;) I don't think I forgot anything. Whatcha Think?
By the way...I learned today that taking pictures in the cab of a truck is not easy. I did the best I could. ;D
Advanced Car Stereo in Riverside, CA. did the installation.

Cindy, Nice set up, you can change the motorized display to manual, it will open and close only when you push the button.

I believe it's in the set up menu, I'll check later and post back.

I have the same unit minus the DVD, I get that feed from a AUX source. (see pic).

Are you going to add NAV?

I have seen that Poineer in-dash filp up receiver at Best Buy. Man is that sweeeet! Is it touch screen? What would be perfect is a set up like that, which played DVD's, ect and also worked as a GPS map system all with touch screen. They probably already have that out but have not seen an all-n-one system like that. Thats the only thing I wish my '03 would come with is an ultimate system which had all of the above features.
Are you going to add NAV? My wife borrowed a friends Lexus SUV. It had a set up that had digital touch screen control for temp/ AC and also played DVD's, and was a GPS map thing all in one from the factory. Sure was a sweet set up.....gives me ideas for future mods if I win the lottery.

Nice System SoCalCindy. Very clean job!

I do have a question for you though. Did you select the components or did your tuner suggest them? Trying to understand the logic behind a 2 channel amp?

Enjoy! You will love it!

WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW

That setup looks SWEET!!!! Go in the house to shower and potty and the rest of the time you can stay in the Av.

I'd LOVE to trick out my Av with similar A/V gizmos but I have a few things to watch out for.

1) Sun Roof
2) Little kid that will trash anything fragile
3) On Star
4) Center Console
5) Cash shortage

But you A/V system looks GREAT!!!

Thanks for the positive feedback on my new system! ?

No Touchscreen. We were originally going with a Kenwood model that did have touchscreen. At the last moment...we changed our minds and went with the Pioneer. ?We realized the Kenwood we picked out didn't have a disc-player in the head unit. ?It was just a AM/FM monitor reciever. ?I'm a little bummed about losing the touch screen...but I also gained XM instead of Sirius. I just hadn't been able to find a whole lot of positive reviews of Sirius. ?Who knows...it just might kick XM's butt...be we'll see. I can see XM vs. Sirius becoming a whole new discussion in the future.

We can add navigation at some point. Pioneer's Navigation System is voice guided/activated. ?So no worries about a touchscreen there.

As far as the 2 channel amp question. The reason behind that was because it was bridgeable and inexpensive-( I hate saying "cheap" ;))

I'll say it cheap, cheap, cheap ;)

But I don't think ANYONE would say THAT about your new setup ... AWESOME is more like it ;D

PhantomFloater...thanks for the tip about the display. I'm gonna look into that today. It just might save me from a dreaded accidental "OOOPS!."

NICE ALL NICE....

Here is what I have and the place I got mine just sent me a letter asking me to bring it back for the one year ?check up. so I will take it back so I can get the wires lokoed at to make sure they are all good..
Sunroof, No trouble, On Star, NO trouble, Kids, No trouble.
The system I have is great. I do have kids.. all girls ages are 6,3,and 2 I have No troubles with my set up.....

Just look at the link down below...

GREAT STUFF..

Really Nice bowtie-racing. I really like headrest monitors too. We might have went that route...but we have 3 kids and knew an overhead would work out much better for the 3 of them.
I guess we can add headrest monitors later too.... What I would really like to add is a monitor on the sunvisor on the passenger side like Phantoms.

Now Dang It! Now I'm alreading thinkin' about modding my newest mod. If only money grew on trees.

Cindy You mean Money does not grow on trees... NO way I have 3 trees in my back yard that grows 20.00 dollar bills.....

and no I am not telling anyone where I live. But I will tell you that as soon as I got my Av last year the trees started growing...LOL

:B:Very nice set up. I just picked up my 2002 Z66 AV Indigo Blue also on Friday and I just designed that same system except the PS2 i went with Xbox for the mp3, cd(rw), DVD and music storage that can be obtained. I also went with 2 10's, Xtant 3303 amp, Focal speaker front and back doors AV switch so the back speaker can run the Xbox while i have the DVD up front controling the front monitor and 3 monitors (1 dash 2 head rest)

As far as the one 10 under the seat i would have done a box for it under the center seat up front. With that you could have stored the PS2 in there and not had it laying out in the open on the floor.

But i must say i like the system idea. My hat off to you. Make sure that you post some of your pics on www.sounddomain.com under the Avalanche. Not to many stereo installs there well not until my system is done.

Congrats on you new AV Navy! You're gonna love it!

I do have the bench seat....But the bench seat up front has zero clearance under the center seat. ?Nice idea but it wouldn't work. That is ulness someone can educate me differently. Never Know.

What you would do is remove the actual cushion and put your sub box/ps2 box there with stock carpeting onit. Then you can mount the folding arm rest back to the sub box and it will all be cased in one unit.

:D I like your idea Navy...But in my case someone actually has to sit there frequently. :D Thanks for the input.

If you don't mind me asking.....how much did all this set you back? I've been considering saving up to do something similar, but I've been downright afraid to price it.

I also upgraded my audio and alarm system. It's not as impressive, but I'm pretty satisfied. Still getting used to it and tweaking the settings:

- Clarion 7" in dash DVD/CD Video/CD/MP3/CD Changer - VRX925VD
- Clarion 400W - 4-Channel Power Amp - Apx401.4
- MBQuart 6.5 Separate Componet speakers - DSD 216 front and DKD 116 for the rear
- Viper 500 ESP2 with a lot of custom work and options
- A/V outlets with 110v/300w converter - located on the B pillar
- XBOX

This will be good for now. Getting my polished rims next week. I'm going crazy with these mods. Someday I'll get around to enjoying my ride and stop modding to take a breather. :)
