I completely understand your frustration with backing these up in a crowded parking lot. Those little cars hide very well.

If I am alone while driving, I move both of the side mirrors down so they are pointing to the rear bumpers height. Helps a lot.

If my wife is with me, she will jumps out and spot me back. We are a great team at this after the first handful of times. She can get me back, centered in the space with the rear bumper 'plum-lined' on the stall paint in the middle in less than about 15 seconds.

The trick is you gotta trust your spotter comlpetely. She/he can see much more than you can.

The other side of this coin would be to park way out in the boonies.

This has advantages too.
1) less vehicles out there to worry about you hitting.
2) less vehicles out there to worry about hitting you.
3) the extra 100 yards you walk is nothing compared to how far you will end up walking around the mall/store

Hmmmm.... could be time for a back up cam. For the times your alone, not just because it would be a cool mod or anything. lol

Sorry to hear about the scratches. At least you can say they are your own! My scratches are the result of plane meanness. :8:

I used to park in the booneys with my old pickup truck too. Takes less time to walk than spent trying to find a spot up close. (Plus with the AV, I get to look at it longer!) By the way, first thing I did was get some 3" wide-angle mirrors for both side mirrors.

My aged parents (80s) parked their Buick in the middle of the parking lot at a restaurant. ?No cars within 10 spaces on either side. ?A guy with a trailer side swiped them. ?Sometimes being in the boonies is dangerous too. ?BTW, the guy came into the restuarant and asked who owned the Buick with the chome trim laying on the parking lot. ?;D ?So all is fixed.
