Headlights - Cladding versus non-cladding

Ok I may have asked this question before but using the search function turned up nothing (quickly).

Anyway I have a 02 Avy, bought in June of 01.  Almost 200k mile and still going strong.  Headlamps are pretty much shot tho and I'd like to upgrade to something a bit more modern looking with projector / LED etc.

I can find all sorts of options for a non-body cladding Avy for aftermarket lights, but nothing for Avy with cladding.   What exactly is the difference?  I've looked at pictures on line between the two types of Avalanches and to me it seems the headlamps are the same shape but that the lamps (highbeam/lowbeam/turnsignal/parking/drl) placement in the lamp housings maybe different.  My guess is the Avy w/o cladding have the DRLs in the head lamp assembly and whereas the body cladding ones have the DRLS in the foglamp assembly.  I find it hard to believe GM redesigned the entire front end of the avy when they went to non-body cladding and since the grill p/n for 02s also fit 06 Avy's.

I'm fine with re-wiring if I need to.  The real question is does anyone know if the non-cladding lights will fit in the same holes and mount the same way as the headlights on a Avy with cladding?

Thanks

Marco

They are not any for the cladded AVs for some years now, you have to make your own.

The uncladded lights are shaped different and will not fit.

Completely different front ends. You would have to swap EVERYTHING in front of the windshield to use non-cladded lights.
