I believe there's someone on this forum that has twin TVS1900s that is probably a little bit faster than Allen....... >:D

The Docs truck does move out, but doesn't pull 8s if I remember right  (y)

The only way you can get a Nelson tune without spending $1200 is to buy his pre-programmed PCM and send your in as a "core".  That's $500, unless he's reduced in the last 4 years.  Otherwise, you have no way to install an email tune without the HP Tuners program and the interface. I heard that he lowered the price on his tunes, but not to $300.  I can email you a copy of all the receipts I have from Nelson to get the email tuning capability.  Came to $1200, not including the AFR gauge to help him tune...that was another $400.

His tunes aren't programmed until you order one, he tunes it based on what you are trying to accomplish... You don't see any down time either, unplug the stock computer, and send it after the swap. Check out his site, your info is not 100%. I don't need reciepts because I've gone through the process...

Honestly...who cares?... Avalanche1500 asked for better acceleration at a decent price...NOT the fastest truck on the planet

Anyways, have a great day!

It was to suggest Nelsons tuning capabities, better backing up my recommendation for a BUDGET friendly mod for better ACCELERATION and power... goes better along the lines of more bang for buck as opposed to your 480. That extra money could be spent elsewhere, but who cares?

I also have a Nelson tune.  That's how I have the receipts...from buying everything.  I also said you could just swap the PCM, for $500 at the time, may be less now.  If you want to wait 4-6 weeks in between shipping the PCM with a new tune, then sure you could do it that way every time something isn't as expected from the tune or if you've changed something.  If you need to change something due to power adders installed or gear changes, etc., you could send PCM's back and forth.  I chose to have the capability of email tunes, which incurs the charges for purchasing HP Tuners, Interface, and wide band O2 sensor AFR meter...which comes to an additional $1000 +/-.  So yes, you can get a Nelson tune for $500 or whatever his current going rate is...but you can not get emailed updated tunes without the mentioned items totaling $1000.

i looked on his website and it seems like a good deal it looks like im gonna go with that, 300-375 isnt bad in my opinion  :B: Thanks everyone for the help any other ideas are also welcomed  (y)

MS the wait time depends on how many PCMs he has on hand. Last few times I've swapped out, turn around time has been 2 weeks or less. You can always just keep your stock pcm too, with them adding a charge of around $50 bucks I think but that still doesn't come close to $500. Don't you have what's considered a heavy modified vehicle? If so that's why your paying more, he would be in the lightly modified class do to being stock.

Avalanche1500, give them a call and Erica will get you taken care of.

Yeah, I forgot that he charged more for that.  I did hear some where (maybe even on his site) that he lowered his price on tunes.  Even at that, if one wants the email tune capability, one would have to dish out three to four times as much coin.  However, if one has no intention of making many changes, then swapping PCM's would be a better option.  I look at it like an investment.  You have to put down the money up front to reap the rewards later.  That's why I went with  the whole shebang...I knew I would need to make many changes.  I'm glad I did, too, because there were often times where we went through three or four tunes in the matter of just over an hour in an attempt to get one that worked...but as you pointed out, mine is heavily modified.  A basic tune on a stock truck is cut and dry.  (y)

I ordered the black bear tune and asked about different tunes for towing or milage or performance and this was his reply  quote from email..

. " With a gas engine, there is no difference in tuning for gas mileage, power, towing, etc.  When set up properly, one single engine tune provides all of those functions based on throttle input.  The differences in tuning will exist in transmission function and octane levels."

I don't think that is entirely accurate...
