So,  I need a lot of help here I am getting out of the Marine Corps in Dec of this year and all of the jobs that I was hoping to take are currently filled.  Is there anyone here that knows of a company that is or will be hiring this winter.  I do operate heavy machinery I have experience with fork lifts bull dozers etc.  Also I am currently an administrative Clerk in the Marines.  I also have experience with fiber glass, I've done electrical work on houses and cars, done construction work such as framing carpentry electrical masonry.  Please help if you know of anything in the eastern NC area that is about $17/hr or $40k a year.  Thanks in advance and see you all in Garner.

Are you stationed at Cherry Point?  No civil service jobs available?  I used to live in Morehead City , I may be able to hook you up with something around there, but I assure you it won't be anywhere around $17/hr, more like $12-$15 doing framing or such.  Let me know if you are interested.  New graduate 4 year degree nurses make $18/hr in your area so you can imagine what the economy is like for blue collar workers. Exactly why I moved to Raleigh.  Hope I can help you out if interested

:DNEW BERN???  That's my home town!!!  My dad has an elevator and chair lift biz based in Pamlico County, but I don't think he's hiring...have you tried Weyerhaueser or PCS in Aurora?

thanks all.  I've already checked out PCS and weyer they are paying good but theyre base salary is'nt all that great if you can PM me the info on the framing job that would be good.  at least at that rate i can get a second job and still make ends meet.  the reason why I'm looking in that pay range is that i have two car notes a mortgage and a wife and kid.  cherry point civil service jobs became Good Ole' boy jobs.  Meaning if you dont know anybody you cant get in.

There's also Hatteras Yahts in New Bern-they pay pretty well-just don't fall asleep or you get fired!!! (no lie I had a friend who did it AND the worst part was his g/f(my bff) was the bosses daughter...)

I also have a friend who says the cable company pays VERY well for installers in New Bern.  I'd also try APAC since they have the contract on the 4 lane running down into the county and it's no where near done yet...the 4 lane to nowhere......

I hate that the whole area has grown so much.  It's just not where I grew up anymore.  Especially Oriental.

PCS (or TG-TexasGulf as it will be known for 50 more years) may not pay much initially, but it pays in the long run--my dad's been there almost 30 years.  My cousin is on there full time permanent now as well after putting in his time with a contractor for a few years.

I personally worked at Weyerhauser until the temp job I had in R&D ran out and loved it...
