Do not buy any hid kits from WWW.MISTERJUNG.COM
I bought a kit in march 2003 and one of the ballasters broke last month . I called alan (mister junG) he said to mail the ballster back to him for a new one.He seemed real nice on the phone and alway e-mailed me back fast.
I also bought another kit for my friend and one of the ballsters in that kit wasn't working so I took the one good one in my truck so his lights would work.I called alan and told him that I have another bad ballster and that I will be shipping back two of them. It's been 3 weeks now with no word or e-mail from alan. The package was shipped back to him UPS insured. I called UPS and they tried calling alan and could not get in touch with him either. They dropped the package on this porch with no sig. Hopfully I'll get the insured amount from UPS (400.00) ??? ???

I second that sentiment.

I have had nothing but trouble from him, and his customer service stinks. He has NEVER responded to my emails (over 25), and he does not answer his 800 number either. I bought a kit with an off-color bulb, and he never responded to the problem. I decided to buy two new bulbs, and it took 11 weeks to get them. He never communicated what was going on at all.

I decided to not bother with returniong the original bulbs, since I know he will once again rip me off. STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY. Try researching him through the Better Business Bureau. He has recently changed the name from misterjung.com to Lighting Specialties or something like that. They have no info on the new company name. I heard he was being complained about by many people, so he changed his company name.

In regards to your package, I bet you will get the, but he wont call or email you at all. The package will just show up some day, like in 6 weeks with no explanation at all. Good luck.

I emailed him a question before I ordered and never got a response so decided not to order. I guess I finally did something smart.

I've been using one of his kits for over a year without trouble.
Knock wood.

i have been wanting to get a HID kit from misterjung for sometme now. as a matter of fact i just closed out his web page to see if the sale is still going on. if you guys recommend staying away from him, then which company would be a good alternative? the kits i see offered on ebay lok real cheap for the most part. so i do not think i will go that route.

Isn't it really a matter of you pay for what you get?

What I mean is that in the extensive search for the 'best' price... we can sometimes cross that line into the poor quality and less than reputable dealers.

I would recommend Tuan Le Electronics in Ca. www.tleelectronics.com or www.tlelectronics.com
He is a longstanding member of the Corvetteforum and has an excellent reputation.

I was just about to order the stage II high & low beam kits from TByrne...I believe he sells HIDS4LESS...has anybody used these? I've delt with TByrne before so I don't anticipate any customer service issues there but is the product worth the $$$ ?

I noticed that HID's 4 less carries heated signal side view mirrors.. anyone install these?

HID4LESS is located right down the street from me in Pawtucket. I've been wanting to go over there and talk to them but I'm not a talker. I want to tell them about the club. And see if they would discount some Kits for us. But like I said I'm not a smooth talker

stay far away from mister junk :3: :3: :3: :3:

Anyone considering these lights should also check your state laws as they are not likely to be DOT approved. In VA, the police will stop you and remove the bulbs (in some counties) and still give you a ticket for illegal equipment. I like these lights as well as anyone, but I don't need $400 - $600 worth of product I can't use. The key is to make sure the one you buy is DOT approved for your AV.

I would think that as long as its a 9006 DOT approved bulb that they couldn't do anything.

I don't know of any HID system that is DOT approved. The problem is that it requires a new headlight assembly to direct all the extra light to the sides instead of in people's eyes.

I would say that you would be safe. With all the cars and trucks that are running them now I'd say if you have them aimed correctly that the Police wouldn't bother you. They look nothing like the over wattage blue bulbs. Mine passed state inspection with them installed. I've been right behind Police before with no problems.

These kits use bulb that fit into the 9006 spot but are actually TRUE XENON bulbs which requiire extre,e high voltage to make light hence the need for the starter and ballasts..........

These are not anything like silverstars or similar.....these are like mecury vapor bulbs you see at gas stations....

I understand the mechanicals of High Intensity Discharge lighting systems and actually while they are like mercury vapor lamps in principal, they differ tremendously because of their instanteous ignition. The lamps used in HID systems are still sized 9004,9005,9006, H1, H7, etc. and if the lamp is DOT approved, ie from a BMW, MB, etc. I don't see how they could be illegal.

unsure what version of HID lamps are using with cars, but in commercial lighting there are different kinds, and every type, needs a different ballast.

LPS - Low pressure sodium. Mainly used in Europe

HPS - High Pressure Sodium. Used everywhere

MH - Metal Halide (sp??) Very common as it produces a broad light spectrum.

MV - Mercury Vapor. Basically obsolite nowdays as they produce a very orange light, being phased out with MH lamps.

Just some useless electrical info I have, being an electrician and all LOL.

I spoke to Alan (Mr. Jung) yesterday and he did tell me he has been backordered. He is selling approx. 700 kits per month and the manufacturer can not keep up.

He is checking on any back orders for replacement parts.

One note! This was mentioned in the original Group Buy Thread. You must run 12 volts from battery to ballast and use AV wiring only to fire relay. The AV does NOT provide enough voltage.

Run heavy guage wire from Battery to Ballast +, connect Ground from AV wiring to Ballast -. (AV uses ground for low beam switching). With this minor change, and you can do this with your stock lighting, you get better voltage to your lights, and you get all on high beams. (When switching from low to high, your AV takes away 12v from low bulbs and switches it to the highs. Since you are no longer using your 12 v low lead, your low beams do not turn off.)

Many that purchased ended up having a ballast that would not fire. They completed the above fix, and no problems since.

And to my knowledge, the Silver Stars are the only DOT approved bulb. HID is not.

And to slam down a vendor due to one problem that we all don't actually know what is going on is pretty harsh. Alan gave a lot of members here a great deal on their HID kits. He does this just about by himself to keep the prices down. Sure he could hire people, but then you won't be getting the good quality kit for only 300 smackers.

That is it the bukbs are sized to fit 9006 but are not 9006 buklbs they take the bulbs used in BMW or whatever which are DS2 etc and make special bases for them so they mount into our housings or others....

DOT has rules about the not just the size of the bulbs but what it is.....

The HID change kits where you swap bulbs are not DOT approved since the bulbs are different gas and different light source....and do not meet DOT rules about headlight lighting.....

You can use the XENARC from philips as they have wholoe new lense assemblies which are DOT approved but cost abour $800-$900 per vehicle...plus they have not made one for AVY.......

FYI, all major producers have stopped producing HID retrofit kits due to a ban from the NHTSA on the sale of these kits. http://hidforum.com/forum/showthread.php?s=6137ac29799a536c9927328980f39aa3&threadid=613&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

They are being outlawed because they do not use a filament like the stock 9006 bulbs use.

Before I get flamed, check out www.hidforum.com -they go into great detail there.

For the record, I have a set of HID's presently in my truck.

With regards to your accusation that I slammed Alan, I contacted him numerous times via E-mail and telephone and he did not have the courtesy to respond. I would appreciate any correspondence from him. I thought Alan was quick to respond, of course that was when I wanted to purchase an additional kit.
But when I encountered trouble with my purchase, there was no response. Alan now has my light kit as well advanced shipping for a replacement ballast and I have NOTHING!!!

if you did not receive the service or quality you expected when you spent your money i feel you have every right to speak your mind. frankly, i am glad you did. i was just about to order a pair when i ran across this thread. i always said i would but one of his kits because of the price. when i wentt o research the kit used in the '03 Escalades the price of one bulb was between $225-$250. this was for one bulb only. so obviously this lead me right back to Jung's lights. if there is a problem with the quality or customer service i do not want to be a part of that.
