I noticed the new Cadillac Escalade has the HID (high intensity Discharge) headlights and was wondering if the bulbs would work on the Avalanche. Anyone explore this one yet?

I don't think these are just bulbs. I believe if they are true HID then they are an entire headlight package. I bet the headlight system would fit the Av though.

Those aren't just bulbs boss.....unless I misunderstood you ...those are true HID systems and cost several hundered bucks....you could go with replacement bulbs as an alternate...but it won't give you that kind of output.... :B:

NJAv is right. HID lillumination is a system, not a single replacement bulb. You can get close to the same color of white by going with SilverStars or PIAAs for lamps. But to get true HID illumination, you'll have to drop around $400 and up. I would PM Xrover as he installed that system on his Av and a few others here may also have done that as well.

Another guy locally did this I just found out and the HID's flickered really bad, to the point that it was really annoying to the guy. The alternators are different and I don't think the AV can handle it.

If your looking for true HID lighting i've done some previous research. ?The philips bulbs and ballast are the german made ones, which are far superior to the japanese hid kits. ?I had a set of the 6000k 9006 hid kits for my escalade and i loved them, i paid about $580 for them from autolamps. And will soon buy another pair for my AV. Ebay has kits starting at about$300, but they are junk. ?When you have a seperate ignitor and ballast, it just means trouble. ?Personally i would only go with the hella or philips ballast. ?The web sites for the best kits are as follows.

www.autolamps-online.com ?Fast shipping and great communication.

www.advancedimports.com ?little bit cheaper price, and good communication

I also included a pic of my old escalade with the HID on it, just for you all to see. ?hope this info helps.

This condition caomes from the unbalanced load on the alternator. Dealer can fix, or follow instructions in post. (Search for light flicker). Simple wire from one of the unused plug leads on alternator to main 12 lug.

Yes, kits with seperate ignitor and ballast are junk. I have been working on a group buy for HID lights. Should be around $370.00 including shipping. These are Hella balasts and true D2S HID bulbs manufactured on 9006 bases. They will be avaiable in 5200k (white), 6000k (Blue/white), 7000k (violet), and 7500k (Blue). Of course, the lower the kelvin, the brighter the light due to color. (7500k are actually blue tinted bulbs, 2400 lumens. Hologen are about 1200).

So I guess now I should ask, how many would be interested in this group buy?
