HID lighting issues

Has anyone with HID's out there had issues getting them to light off properly?  I had a pair of GT 6000K lights that worked flawlessly until this winter.  After some going back and forth with GT, they sent me some new bulbs to which I installed and when I turned them on, there was nothing.

In aggravation, I went out and bought a new HID kit, by a different manufacturer.  I installed them and still get nothing??? :E: :E: :E:

The only thing that I have done prior to starting these issues is change the battery, as my OEM batt was struggling in the cold weather here this past winter.

Even though I changed the battery, the lights did work for a period of time, but sometimes struggled to light off.

In my mind, I know that it is the battery that is causing my problems, as it is the only thing that I changed prior to having problems, but what does not make any sense is why?  The battery has plenty of power to start the truck, in fact it does it better than the previous battery, but maybe it is lower voltage???

Any ideas?  Buy yet another battery?

Further information on the first question:

Without the truck running, I am registering a voltage across the battery of 12.53 vdc.

With the truck running, I am seeing 14.25, which tells me that the alternator is charging properly.

Still scratching my head looking for advice.

Thanks,
JD

Do you have the auto headlight relay installed?  and when you changed your battery, did you reconnect the hot wire to the relay?

That is a good question.  I did not notice another wire hanging off of there, but assume that it is plugged in, as the auto lights do work.

In further troubleshooting, I think the replacement bulbs that I got are reversed polarity.

When plugged in properly, they will not fire, however when I reverse the polarity to the ballast power via jumpers from the battery, they light up fine.

I am in the process of re doing the cables to reverse the polarity and will let everyone know of success or failure.

Thanks,
JD

Well, the reverse polarization of the bulbs has solved my problem?

Strange, as the original GT HID bulbs worked fine, then the replacements did not.

With the polarity swapped via the cable carrying power from the OEM plug to the ballast, everything now works.

Thanks for the replies.
