I have been looking at some past posts, but don't have a lot of time to spend searching, and probably are easy questions that can be answered quickly.  I am looking at HIDs, and I like the blueish tint, so I will probably go with 8ks.  My question is:

Some people are talking about $300 conversion kits.  I thought I would just have to buy the bulb and replace the existing bulb.  Is that not true?  You can buy them for like $9 on ebay.

I have an 05 cladded.

the $9 bulb aren't HID's, they just repeoduce the look.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY W/BULB ONLY ?(YOU NEED A FULL KIT W/BALLAST ABOUT 200.00 FOR KIT

$100 for the cheap, probably won't last very long kits.

But if I want to spend the money on other mods, and only want to produce the look at this time, and upgrade later, all I need is the bulbs?  They will work ok in the lights currently installed?

do not do the bulbs... money wasted. They don't last long and don't create a better output of light.

If you don't want to do the HID's... wait until you can afford it.

Yes, I second what dune says.  Wait, it is well worth it.

yes, and they'll probably provide more light than the stock ones. ?

FYI, some of the aftermarket ones are higher wattage than GM recommends and they could melt your housing... GM won't replace under warranty if that happens because of the higher wattage bulbs.

(I'm gonna disagree with Dune and Neptune. ?Stock lights suck and nearly anything is an improvement.  HID's are the way to go, but if you're 'ballin on a budget'  you gotta do what you gotta do.)

not sure, I'm just going off of what I was told when I had 50W fogs and stopped at the dealer.  they said the fog lights were not supposed to be more than 37W.
