My daughter was in HistoryChannel.com and came across this game on their web site. Look under Modern Marvels Boys' Toys and click on "Avalanche Island of Adventure". You'll have to register to play the full game. You get to pick from 4 different Avalanches and there are 3 courses to choose from. It takes a while to load up but hey, it's our beloved Avalanche!!!

Great fun...my 7 year old came home for lunch and we drove the AV through the obstacle course. He was much better at the game than I was.

I don't see how you guys can live without a cable connection and be soo involved with the internet ???

A dedicated phone line for only internet use is what, about $35, and cable connections are around $45. I know some cable companies are doing deals if you do both through them (tv & intenet).

I'm with Zimm. I can't imagine not being on the cable now.

Tell me about it ...it's the most annoying thing to be dealing with this dial up....I'm looking into the Comcast cable modem...this way the tv cable bill and the puter bill will all be in one...makes sense.... :B:

Well in my case it took Comcast about a month to figure out that the cable didn't go to my new house. :2: Then they decided they were going to charge me over $1000 dollars to run it from my neigbors house less than 100ft. away. :8: We went out and got DirecTV. Bellsouth said we could get high speed DSL in a month. It has been almost a year and still can't get it. :7:

I know how you feel. ?I am trying to get SBC/Yahoo dsl. ?They have actually called me and asked me if I wanted to hook up, I said Yes, but it's not available in my area (I work for SBC so I already checked) And they were like Oh, sorry. Untill I can get it, I have to stick with dial-up AOL at home, which is why I am always logged into the Club from work! ?But I am not authorized to check out the Adventure Island game, ?I will have to do it at home!

I thought about DSL...but the speed varies on the distance from your location to them...so I wasn't to sure this was the way to go.....$1000 does seem like a very expensive solution for the Comcast......forget that... :B:

It requires a plug-in that I don't have. Must be another one of those "Windows -only" things. :6:

Before you guys with your highspeed internet connections start bragging and telling us how stupid we are with our slow dialup connections, here's a thought:

Some of us simply cannot get highspeed service. I live in an area where neither cable internet or DSL internet service is just not available. Also, I can't afford to pay $800 for sattelite internet service when the main thing I need is vpn which sattelite internet service does not support.

I quit smoking 7 weeks ago and I'm cranky. Sorry.

It's ok, i've yet to find a game i can consistently beat my 9 year old at...X-box, or computer....Unless i cheat... >:D

Ok, lemme go check out that game.

NJAV, do you already get cable TV? My internet comes in on the same cable as the television signal. If you have the tv you may be able to get the net just by having them come out and wire you up.

Yes steel I do...I have the comcast digital cable...I could opt to go with the comcast @home..rent the cable modem from them and your right they would just have to come out and rig the thing up.....they want like $40+ a month for the use of their cable connection....what's nice is you would get your tv cable bill, and your isp bill all on one statement... :B:

Sounds like att@home, which is what I'm using. $42.95 a month, it would be $45.95, but I bought my own modem. They just started the dual billing here this month. It's a bit more convenient, but I'm only saving the price of one stamp.

Your right Steel, I'm sure it's the same thing...along with optimum online which is the high speed service offered by Cablevision....they give you the option of either renting the modem or purchasing it like you did....If I decide to go with it ....I will opt to rent most likely...but nonetheless...it will be worth the increased speeds... :B:

I lost connection last summer. I eventually determined it was the modem. ATT Braodband couldn't make it out to the house for a week and their storefront would not swap modems out with me because "a repairman has to determine what the problem was". This wasn't going to cut it so I went and bought a modem. The repair guy did eventually show up, and lo and behold, it was the modem! What a surprise! He said that the modem they supplied had a lot of problems and they waited for them to quit before replacing them. He also said the new replacements were not a whole lot better.

Do they charge you some sort of few for coming out and looking at the problem or is this all included in the monthly installment?.... :B:

I believe it was free because there was something wrong with their equipment. If they had found nothing wrong, or a problem with my stuff, I think I would have been charged. How much, I'm uncertain.

All this talk about fast connections, the game works fine at dial up speeds, so stop showing off you lot!

Is there a way to play the game against someone else head to head, or are you just comparing scores?
