Does anyone know where I am able to get a 12v hitch adapter and the cord for the AV? I saw this on Phantom's AV and I just have to have now. Phantom can you help?

okrednk, The Accessory Power Outlet is GM part # 12487781, you can order it from your GM dealer for around $35. Their is someone else that make it for around $20 but I do not have a link to it maybe another member can provide it for you.

[EDIT] Found it by Hidden Hitch part # 38012 for $15.84

Unfortunately the ConvertaCord has been discontinued.

Gm makes one and it is under CADDY parts as someone has posted about this a long time ago.....

Traded in a 2001 Tahoe in which everything came with the truck, asked the salesman where was it for my 03 Avalanche and he advised me to go to U-Haul. Haven't gone todate, just wondering has anyone else gone there and what is the cost.

I purchased one of these adapters but it doesn't seem to work properly. Supposedly the hitch receptacle on the back of the Avalanche is wired like this:

Pins 4 and 1 correspond to the respective connections in the hitch adapter. With my voltmeter, however, pin 4 does not show any voltage with the ignition on or off, while pin 3 seems to be the +, either with the ignition off or on. Pin 3 doesn't connect to the adapter. I checked a universal trailer adapter and it seems also to expect the 12V + to be at pin 4.

Can someone explain what I'm doing wrong? ???

did you instal underhood fuse?

Which fuse would that be? I assumed since this is a factory installed hitch, that the wiring and fuses would be in place.

Thanks

There is tons of info on this in some threads in the towing section....

I am not sure which one but I know it is large and not many stores carry it...it is also taped to the wiring harness thingy GM gave us 2002 owners.....

Thank you for the reply. I did not know about the other threads, but I searched and found some info. Apparently I need to put a 40amp fuse in Stud #1. Why GM wouldn't supply this is a mystery, given the factory installed hitch. But so it goes!

I ordered mine from draw-tite hitch web site.... 11 bucks.....

fuse.... 2 bucks.....
