Hood spring help

I need help.

Last time I filled up I checked the oil, it was fine, closed the hood, finished pumping the gas, climbed back in wrote down my mileage, when I heard a big pop under the hood. Sh*t ! I thought the engine blew up or something. but when I opened it up the hood would not stay up. So I found the spring on the passangers side it was laying next to my second battery.

We tried to put it back on with no tools but with no luck

Has anyone had to remove or replace these hood springs?

Is their some special way to get them back on?

I think they are a part of the hinge assembly.....and it seems strange it popped out....

Hopefully someone else will chime in ....if not youmay want to ask local dealer....

dealer fixed the problem with a hook.

Still I wonder why it popped off.
