How About Subaru Brat Style Seating

Anyone remember the Subaru Brat with the two jump seats in the bed? Wound't the Avalanche be cool if they had an option for these jump seats or if an aftermarket vendor would come out with them? The seat backs could fold forward so they could be stowed in place when the hard or soft cargo cover is on. If GM did it they could even be removable (al a minivan). Think it would be just awesome to pop the rear window and ride back there in an off-road situation like on a beach or up a mountain trail.

That would be cool. I don't think gm would ever include them w/ the truck, but I bet it wouldn't be too difficult to fab something together w/ some aftermarket seats and make it so you can take it in and out. I could definetly see how it would be fun for driving around the beach during the summer in the back.

How safe would those be, even with makeshift seatbelts? Also, would it violate any "Rules of the Road" by having passengers riding in the bed?

That's a good question, but I know of a couple after-market companies that manufacture "third row seats" for SUV's. They're either confident in their product or have damn good defense attorneys.
