???, How Many 2X4 Vs 4X4 AV's Are There?

Hello All, Had time to ponder this mostly dumb question.
My question being is the amount of Standard vs Z-66, vs Z-71 that are being produced. Basically how many 4x4 verses 2x4?????? :eek:
In my short time reading and learning new stuff :0: I am seing most of the board members here owning up to the Z-71 package. For a yuppie like me I wanted the big wheels, higher vehicle but did with out the 4x4( I do not take 30+thousand dollar cars, trucks whatever Off Road. God forbid I might get it dirty... ;D. My z-66 is big, obnoxious and offends the fuel freindly folks who want us to drive electric cars
Just curious if the omnipitent ones running this site have a clue as to the numbers from above question...
 
Ihave seen only a few Z71's on the road, but ALOT of Z66's. I have a Z71, but I am like you, off road is hard to do when you have 39K invested in a vehicle. The stock height of the Z66 is 73.3 for the 2WD, and the height of the Z71 is 73.6 for the 4WD. So the clearance and the height are about the same for both. Maybe a good question is how many Z71's and Z66's our community is made up of. :B:

It is like the opposite here. Z-71 Everywhere. I ahve only seen like 2 or 3 Z-66.
The rest are North Face or Summit White Z-71?

Same here in WV most all are 4x4 with highest % being z71's never saw a z66 till saw Goo's on this site :B:
 
Same up here in the great white north. I knew the Z66 existed but like Nessie I never seen one ;)
Most all here are 4X4. They did not bring 4X2's here foir almost a year. I would say the Z71 vs other 4x4 is about 80/20.

Also the 1500 vs 2500 is likely 90/10

Most of the Av's I've seen here in New Jersey are Z71's....but you do see the Z66 running around as well....most folks around here tend to buy their trucks with the offroad package regarless if they ever engage or not..... :B:

I guess the only reason for me to have the 4x4 is resale value later-
But Z-66 is working fone for my family... :B:
 
there are a few poll threads that ask this info for other reasons....one for midgate window tint...I forget the others.....

Here in the lovely Hudson Valley it looks like Z-71's account for about 3/4 of the Av's. I have not seen a single Z-66, although I did see one listed on a dealer website. I am looking forward to some snow.
 
It must be a regional thing, 'cause there are just not a bunch of Z66s running around over here. This seems to be land of the Z71 (speaking as a Z71 owner/devotee)
 
What are your thoughts about reliability? When I bought my Z71 everone warned me about the costly repairs that 4x4's require. Bought one anyway, am I going to experience additional repair costs in the 100k-150k mark just because it is a 4x4?
 
In the youngstown area of ohio, the Z71 seems to be taking over like the plague. Its seems like all of the 100,000 units are right here. However, i do see many z66's. On the lot, they are outnumber by about 5 to 1.
 
I think I have seen 1 Z66 in CO compared to 150 Z71's or 4x4's.

Maybe the mtns have an influence :)
 
I'll second that Blueruck . . . I've seen one Z-66 in a dealer's lot, but none on the road - all Z-71's in Colorado! Also haven't seen any 2500's up this way . . I think the 2500 percentage on this board is higher than that on the road!
 
Welcome to southern cal, all you see are z66's everywhere. I actually had a guy stop me - driving a z66 - and ask what the z71 package was!
 
My avalancheand I have been to IA, MN, ND, SD, WI, KS, MO, KY, OH, IN, IL, NE, OK, TX and I've never seens a Z66, ?now I know there are some but I've never seen one. ?Only online. ?It's definatley defined by location, why would you want a 2X4 in MN, ?and why would you want a 4X4 in Orange CO? ?
 
I have seend about near even ratio of Z66s to Z71s in Lousville, KY on the road, with a slight edge to the Z71s. On the lots, what little inventory remains, its about 2:3 Z66s to Z71s on average.
 
From my trips around Ohio, I have seen many more Z71's than Z66's. But I hardly ever see any plain 4x4's.

In Michigan it seems like most the ones I have seen are unmarked, which I guess would be 2 wheel drive non-Z66
 
Here in Western Kansas, where we can get a little snow, I've seen a cross section of Z71s and Z66.... I have a 66, traded in a 4x4 Expedition. Rarely if ever needed the 4x4. I think the big AV with the rear locking differential will do fine in any snow I need to run in. It is a regional thing. While shopping for my AV, I called Colorado (they didn't even have a Z66) and I called Oklahoma and they had a nice selection.

I saw a 2500 4x4 this weekend and it got tagged - it was at an office building in Denver. I have seen a couple around Boulder.
 
As some of you would expect, up here in Minnesota you see almost exclusively Z71s. I have only seen 1-4x4 and 2-Z66s. A comment was made in another post about resale and in these parts, a Z71 will definitely fetch more at trade-in. Part of the problem I believe is I have never seen "Z66 ride package" labeled on any other vehicle. Sure, maybe Tahoes, Silverados etc may have a Z66 option, but it has never been labeled until now. Does that have anything to do with the over-abundance of Z71s?
