How Many From PA?

I'm curious if there is anyone interested in a PA GTG.

We've had a couple suggestions, but that's as far as it went.

How about it PA Avalanchers---let's hear from you.

I think a lot of us are interested in getting together, but it may be difficult to get an "all PA" GTG together since the state is so big. ?For example, it's closer for me to go to a north NJ, DE, or north VA GTG than to go to State College. ?It's a toss up whether we could go or not, timewise.

I know there are others that are on the right side of the state too, just not as far right as me, and they can't make the NJ or DE GTGs. ?I guess it's really where you're at, the proximity to the GTG, and the driving time involved. ?Some people can afford the time to drive longer distances. ?Some can't.

I imagine the same applies to the folks on the left side of the state with some Ohio and WV GTGs closer to you.

Anyway, we're up for something depending on location and date. ?Some of the other chapters have had meets that involved short cruises, a lunch, and an Av line up for show and tell.

Just for long-range planning purposes . . . the ?All Truck Nationals will be at Carlisle on Saturday June 28. ?A group of us went last year and this thing was HUGE. ?There were so many different kinds of trucks there. ?You name it, they had it; street rods, mega lifts, slammers, customs, vintage custom.

Dario (and all),

I pick up my Av tomorrow, so I'd be interested in doing something in the next few months. A fun and easy GTG is to go bowling.... something central around where Dario and I are is King of Prussia... convenient for anyone in the Philly area. I'm a bit limited due to young children, so I can't travel terribly far or stay out really late ;)

Can't wait to see the new Av, Limerick! (y)

I'll second a GTG in the King of Prussia area . . . . and soon! King of Prussia is really a hub of many connecting highways, which makes it easy to get to . . . Rts. 476, 676 via 76, 76, 202, 422, 63, and 95 via 476.

Bowling is good. In addition to that, we could also meet at Valley Forge National Park. There is a huge parking lot behind the park office that can easily and safety accomodate a large number of Avs. Anyone with little ones could even bring their bikes and let them pedal around a quiet section of the lot. People also bring their horses there, which is cool. I tagged a Blue Av with a horse trailer there yesterday, when heading out for my bike ride.

The roads in VF National Park are set up in a big 5 mile loop. So we could incorporate that as part of a mini cruise, if we did this. If we're lucky, we might spot some herds of deer feeding.

Another option is to grab some eats afterward and have a chat-and-chew. There are lots of places in the KoP area, but we'd need to plan ahead with the restaurant, as this is a busy and popular area.

Whatever we do, I agree that it doesn't go real late. I turn back into a pumpkin well before midnight. ;)

So this is a call from Limerick and myself to everyone interested in an eastern PA GTG from wherever you might be . . . other parts of PA, as well as our bretheren from DC, VA, MD, DE, NJ, and NY.

I'd say we'd be shooting for April, as opposed to May.

Also, keep in mind, there is an upcoming paintball GTG in PA. See the paintball thread on this.

Great idea for Valley Forge park! There are volleyball courts, pavilions, etc. There are also alot of new restaurants right near the park; don't necessarily have to go into King of Prussia.

As far as the weather for an outdoor event in April, that may be a bit of a challenge. I'm only available the first and second weekend in April, but wide open in May (for now).

Iam also from Pa. 10 min east of philly. Its good to see so many Av mumbers from PA. I think a GTG would be an excellent idea. As for the state being to big.. no way. I can make it from philly to lock Haven (center of the state) in 3:15. Speaking of that area, is ne body from potter or cameron county, or does ne body go there for rec. I go there quiet often and would be interested if ne 1 else does to.

I'm down near DC and while making it regularly to any PA GTGs, I'd like to see if some of us (how many yet to be seen) can hook up with some of you at the Carlisle show in June. We're planning to head up there on Saturday the 28th for a day trip. How about it?

Absolutely! We had a nice turnout last year from PA and hope we have a greater Mid-Atlantic presence this year. I spoke to the NJ people at today's GTG and it looks like we'll have some NJers coming too. I hope we can see lots of DC, VA, MD, DE, NY, and CT show up too. Folks, this one is just too good to miss. It's massive and WILL blow you away.

I've been working on a list of Mid-Atlantic GTGs and activities for a while and this was on it. I'll get back working on that list get it posted sometime soon, so we can all get started planning and brainstorming some more.

I live in the King of Prussia area so I am in. Any idea on a date, yet?

Harry

So is this basically just a meet and cruise. What, if any, activities will you all be doing?

The King of Prussia GTG has it's own thread:

Mid-Atlantic GTG - Valley Forge, PA

It would be great to get feedback there on dates that are good for people.

Yes. Anyone that's interested, please visit that new thread and check out the proposed dates. Give us your feedback there on them and we'll nail a date down shortly.

Mid-Atlantic GTG - Valley Forge, PA

FYI, if you are intested in the Carlisle All Truck Nationals in June, we also have a thread running on that.

Hey, I grew up in Peters township! ?Graduated in'79.

I grew up in Peters too. Graduated in '76. Hated the bicentenial. It was crammed down my throat as we were the "Bicentenial Class of 1976" :9:

If you see a '02 LPM with Waag brush guard, Billet grill, and orange DRL's, that's me. >:D

Sounds like there are enough Avs for a pretty good sized Western PA Group. AND we all know there are plenty of places to go and lots of things to do in the Pittsburgh area.

Anyone willing to step up to be area coordinator ???

Living in the lehigh valley. I know another buddy of mine just bought a 2002. Thats 2 more.
