How much would a level5 tranny cost?

I answerd this in the last thread you asked this question in.......

If you buy it from Chuck at FLT who is arguably one of the best builder's out there, a level 4 can be had for about $1800.00.... a level 5 is about $2400....

I also added the billet 4 x 4 shaft and a new 3 disk Vig stall to replace the Edge racing stall that I have about 18 months on.....

Chuck is building these things for serious power that is used on the street/strip every day. He is referred  by Allen Nelson, Hot Rod magazine, GM High Performance, etc.. etc...

He has also built the Level 5 80E that is in Parrish's truck that is throwing over 1000 HP to the ground.....

There are cheaper Level 5's out there but you also see them broken all over the web with those same people complaining that a Level 5 is not handling their power...... Chuck has some Level 5 65E's out there that are holding 850 hp for an entire race season.....

Hope this helps....

So with a good converter and the billet 4 X 4 output shaft its about $4000 plus install.  Guess you can call around on that.  I did my own install.

I paid 375 bucks for the install... they had to cut my 3" exhaust and reweld it.... included install of both stall and tranny, as well as repacking and reshipping the core back to FLT....

Another note on my stall selection... I was running a 2600 Edge racing stall (which is for sale if anyone wants it) without clutch paks.....

Since I was running around town unlocked, I was really not concerned about TCC lockup. As I have started to travel more and tow loads, I was increasingly nervous about towing at interstate speeds with the converter locking at 65 mph and higher (which is where I am tuned) The tranny temps stayed between 180-190* with the TOC, but I was nervous about a locked TCC with load...

With the new stall I have a 3 disc carbon fiber clutch pak that makes this issue go away. I logged the tranny temps on my trip and while unlocked, it would climb to 185 to 190*...when locked, it would drop to 172*......

I also selected a 9.5" stall for the reduced rotation mass, which influences the tranny temps slightly, but is more than compensated for with the TOC.....

Sounds like a good deal considering I just about broke my arm trying to get my SW exhaust apart to drop the tranny.  But I like to do everything myself at least once so I know where the next guy that does it screwed up.

I just hate tranny fluid.... plus, I could not bring myself to lay out in 100* heat and fight the tranny in and out of the truck in the front driveway....

The guy that did my swap is a local tuner here in town that tunes turbos and s/c buildouts with HP Tuners.. He also drives a Red 2005 Silvy SS........ (y)

Mine has stood up to a lot of punishment with no issues.  Stock trans wouldn't last a day with that kind of abuse.

Hehe.....Should have known better.  I was going to qualify that with behind a pullied down Radix, plenty of 40mph downshifts into 1st, etc.  My stock 60E wasn't happy behind the Radix and bit it as soon as the boost increased a little due to cold weather.  And I wasn't doing 40mph slams into 1st yet.  There is a long list of broken 60Es behind Radix SCs.

I just spent $3500 for mine.
and $150 for 5gal of royal purple.
