I finally figured out a way to program my 07 remote. I did some searching earlier and couldnt find  a way to program my new oem remote with remote start on an 07 z71 so i tried a few different things and finally got it to work in about 2 minutes.  I lost mine so i bought a new one on ebay for about 22 bucks instead on the 120 they wanted plus 40program!!! This is what you do if you already dont know.

1. Press the secondfrom top button on the DIC( with the car and i button) around 7 times untill your screen reads
( Press the Check button to relearn remote)

2. Hold the check button until it says learning remote.

3. Press and hold the lock and unlock button on your remote for a few seconds until you hear a beep.

And then it worked. It was that easy for me

What really mad me aggervated is that i called the dealership and they said that i had to come in to get it done and there was no way that i could do it myself. That they had to reprogram the vehicle with a tool.

I hope this helps if you are looking to reprogram your new remotes.

Exactly what I did when I bought mine, the 2nd remote was programmed and I'd have to bring it back to have it done by the Tech. What a crock. Another FYI what ever you program at that point is all that will work, so if you have one that works and a new one, you'll have to program that old one as well. Otherwise it will not work.

Good info.  Many thanks.  Yep, the dealer has to use a special tool.....it's called "two thumbs".

So here is a question, I am in need of a third set of keys. Can i in theory buy another remote and program it?
and what is the procedure to learn a new key, or do I not have to worry about it. This is the first truck I have had with sensors in the keys.

Normally the keys are a different story than the remotes.  My previous experience when buying a new key ( no in the AV though)  involved giving the dealership all the keys ( 2 old + 1 new) and they wipe the system clean and then pair the ignition with all 3 keys at the same time.  THey indicated if they did not have the old keys, the old keys would no longer be recognized and they would not work.

Not something you can do at home.

If you have a working key it is a very simple process to program a new key. The new key must be a transponder key. Insert  the old key in the ignition and cycle the ignition from off to on to off. Within 15 seconds insert the new key and cycle from off to on to off. The security light will go off and the new key is programmed.

Thats some good stuff. Just wondering if you remote start your truck does the doors come unlock as well?

thanks.
I dont have a remote start remote control. I just have the regular key fob. Will the programing work if I buy one from ebay. Yes, my truck came with the remote start prep package. If I can buy one from ebay what numbers need to match? I was reading some of the auctions and they said make sure the numbers on the back of the key fob match. thanks

Hey did you ever find an answer to that question? I've been wondering the same thing

Hi Guys, Is there an answer to the question about the remote start programing, I can not find an answer to that question, I have an 2007 ava that I just recently picked up, It has the "AP8" code that I found out is the prep package for the remote start I did the programing with the "DIC" buttons and the remotes work on the locks but does not start the truck, And the check engine light is off. Any help would be most appreciated. Thank's Guys.
