I have been searching threads and can not get a definitive answer to my questions and I hope someone can help me. I have a 2004 AV with Bose, Onstar and XM. I'm installing a JL 500/1 to power a new sub enclosure and a JL 300/4 to power Boston Acoustic Pro-Series 6.5 in the front. I'm keeping the rear factory door speakers and Bose head unit for now and want to keep the rear speakers powered by the bose amp. Also the JL amps RCA inputs accept 200mV-8V. My questions are:

1. Should I splice into the low level audio signal wires from the factory head unit for my JL amp inputs and will spliting the rear low level signal for the rear speakers and the sub amp affect the sound?
2. Should I splice into the speaker (high level outputs) on the Bose amp for my JL amp inputs?
3. Which speaker outputs on the Bose amp should I splice (rear speaker outputs or sub woofer outputs) for my sub amp?
4. If I use high or low level outputs from the Bose system do I still need line output converters for the JL amps even though they take a wide range of inputs (200mV-8V)?
5. Finally, will splitting the radio turn on wire, coming from the Bose head unit, into three (for the Bose amp and my JL amps) still work? :cautious:

I'm so close to install just need to clear up these issues. I will post pictures of the new sub enclosure when all finished. ;)

Why hasn't anybody answered to this as I'm trying to figure out how to wire up an aftermarket amp.

You have to buy an adapter that alows you to use your Factory head unit with an aftermarket amp with the front speakers. I would assume that you would just not disconnect the rear line to the bose amp.

I am currenty gutting my bose system - I needed to buy an adapter that will let me keep the factory chimes (door ajar - turn signal on etc...). The factory stereo is integrated into the Bus system. Really makes things difficult. Kodiakz should be able to give you a part number.

You can hook up an additional Sub to the factory system - according to Mobile Electronics OEM Integration Tech sheet.

1) use a quality high to low converter to feed the signal to the aftermarket amp.

2) Wires - All wires are in a white connector at the bottom rear of the center console. - not sure if you can reach them by pulling out the cup holder assembly (Just grab it and pull up) or if you have to take the storage compartment out??? The picture they show of the connector is taken from the rear seat with the center console cover removed (the back of the console)

Wiring:
Left Positive = Green
Left Negative = Blue/Black
Right Positive = Blue/white
Right Negative = Green/black

Hope this helps.

For a 2003 and up Av with Bose and Onstar, you'll need the following, which are available from our site sponsor site JP Customs here:

Onstar module

To add a factory amp to the Bose system you'd need this interface.

This interface, the CM1, is the chime module that works with the above Onstar module to retain your factory door and park assist chimes.

There is no good reason to replace the Bose head unit unless you want some different look or additional functionality from a deck, such as MP3, Nav and such.

As far as the remote turn on for your amps, you can try the factory turn on lead, and it may work, I haven't tried it to tell you one way or the other. If it doesn't work it won't hurt anything at all, it simply won't turn your amps on. If that is the case, you can run a relay inline, or find a better switched lead for turn on at the fuse box.

I used the AOEM-GM24 which gives 2 sets of RCA outputs. Front LEft and Right and rear left and right. Stay away from the rear outputs if you have the rear audio console as you will get bad output if the rear console is on. This module is SUPER easy, pull out the HU, unplug stock wire harness and put this to the HU and the stock wire to this. Then follow instructions for Remote AMP turn on (I think you tap pink wire) with a 12 or 14 gauge wire. Works great.
