I just started hearing this humming noise coming from some were in my AV I thought it was the drivers side but it was not so I go over the the other side and it sounds like it is in the back I go to the back and it sounds like it is in front anyways it sounds like an air compresser adn it is making me :8: have any of you guys had this same problem and what did you do???
any help would be helpful

Lance

I THINK that somebody was talking about something similiar the other day. It ended up being a rear differential, but they had thought it was coming from the front originally. Just a thought.

I had a similar problem . I had moved my roof rack bars all the way forward & that created a noise similar to what you are saying.
It has also been my experiance that if your tires are not rotated enough you will get a chop or wavey effect in the front creating a howling noise

I will have the differential looked at because the only/main time I hear it is when I am parked I have my roof rack bars moved back where I have had them all this time anyways thanks for your help

My CD player makes a humming noise that I can only really hear when I am parked and quiet. It is somewhat hard to discern where the sound originates from.

I had a humming sound in my AV, it turned out to be the little speaker above the window on the drivers side

Actually, if you are talking about the one inch diameter perforated grille above the driver's head, that is a temperature sensor for the automatic cliate control. It contains a small fan, which has been known to make noise in the past, which is usually described as a "chirping" sound.

Bingo I just found it I put my had over it and it muffeld the sound so what did you have to do to fix it?

Hi AvaLance,
I hope you are still under warranty. The only sure fix is replacement. I have done it many time at the Silverado factory. It only takes a few minutes.
Don't try to spray anything in there. The silence will only be temporary and you will probably stain the headliner. Good Luck. :)

I am not going to spry any thing up there but I am out of warrenty I hope it does not cost too much to fix it

There is a cooling fan on the back of the CD player. If you are parked and quiet you can just hear it.

I had the same experience on my 98 Z71, 2000 Tahoe. If the engine is running, it's probably the fuel pump. Key on, and you'll hear it for 1-3 seconds as it pressurizes the fuel system. Start the vehicle and it will come back on . :D
