I installed the stainless steel letters today from www.ssinserts.com

Look fantastic!

The letters have a few slightly jagged edges and in some cases are slightly
wider than the Avalanche claldding letter surface, so the letters will easily
catch on a rag or possibly carwash cleaning apparatus, so I am concerned
about them being likely to get damaged or ripped off in a carwash.

The letters are easy to apply and stick like crazy so they will
definitely not fall off in normal circumstances.

The are very attractive, and I think they are well worth installing even if you
have to make special requests at say hand carwashes, to not touch the letters.

P.S. I posted picture in a later post. Picture is also in my signature block below.

I have been on the fence about ordering the Stainless Steel letters...this information may have helped me decide not to do it.

My concerns exactly!...
I need to run through the brushless wash on occasion... and have to be careful which mods I use.... sounds to me like they might get torn off if they have an edge to them.

I do think they look awesome though!

I ordered these a couple of days ago and when I get pics I'll show you them.

I just installed the polished stainless steel Avalanche letters from www.ssinserts.com
The letters look fantastic. Pic below

I ordered mine along time ago... I still have not gotten mine. :8: When did you order yours? They look great. Did you get all three?

Ive looked at their site several times and would really like them... I am curious how they withstand the test of time.

QUESTION: Did they come in a set of four?

[1] colors? These are .020 gauge heavy highly polished stainless steel and no colors were available when the intial sets were made. A color would kill the effect of the polished stainless. [2] Big Red- ordered mine and had them in hand and on the Av in a week. [3] Car wash- perhaps I could concieve of someone driving though a 'brushless' car wash on occasion, but otherwise who would spend the bucks for this Av, mod it to death to make it truck show generation, and than take it thru a regular car wash? You may as well buy a field truck or the stripped down Av version and forget any mods. Have you seen the paint on some of the Av's on the road which have been abused to the chemicals of an auto car wash? [4] Yes, the SS Av letters are probably NOT for you if you do not wash your own AV. At $70.00 per single set that is a lot to risk in an automated car wash or with someone washing the Av who does not have the care you may have for the vehicle. Just my opinion combined with experience.

They do come in a set of four, I guess you could put the 4th set on the front bumper, but it wouldn't be raised and look as cool as they do on the sides and back.

The manufacturer states that the 4th set is for the grill, but I can't visualize anywhere it would go on the grill.

In all fairness to the manufacturer, these letters are really heavy duty quality items that stick on very securely, so it may be the carwash apparatus that gets damaged, not the letters.

Give me some time and I will advise everyone.

I don't take my Av through a regular automated carwash, but I do occasionally take it through the type that have the long sponges, and I intend to take it through and see what happens. :)

The set of four work if you have the GM factory style Brush Guard installed.

1 one each front door=2 plus one on tailgate =3 plus one on brush guard =4 sets. ;D

I was also looking at my Avalanche and I think the letters would fit on te bug shield that says Avalanche. I'm going to see if the letters match up when I get them.

Got it! ?See attached for extreme close up. ?This is driver's side.

Just like Supermobile said, they stick like crazy. I don't think they're gonna come off without a fight.

RoarinRow- if you mean you ordered the GM grille guard to install the SS AV letters, do NOT install the letters until you get the guard on the AV. They do fit perfectly on the GM Grille Guard from the raised letters, however, from experience, be careful NOT to bump anything. And if someone backs into you in a parallel park slot it WILL damage the letters. While they will not likely fall off they will get dented or bent. These are very nice and after the 3rd day goes by for curing the glue after application you are going to have to use a chisel to get them off.

Hi Colonelmotox,

Oh no, I didn't order the grille guard. I've got too many mods in front. The grille will be too much for me. Today, while I was admiring the SS AV letters, I did think about if someone were to bump my doors and bend my letters.

These SS AV letters weren't exactly inexpensive. I garage it every night and won't drive it out until this Saturday which will be the 3rd day.

Thanks for the concern and heads up!

RoarinRow
