I just saw an '06/'07 Avalanche!

How about an option to keep one of the side saddle bags refridgerated somehow. Where you would be able to control the temp. Just an idea.

:7:
Darn it! I got to this thread too late! I love my AV, but it needs all the mods I have in my sig. below! A Snug Top with rails and latches to take advantage of where the deck panels attach just seems logical. I have no idea why, other than it is cheaper, they made them sit on the cargo boxes. A quick release shell would be great. Just wouldn't want the kids to be back there and think it would be funny release the latches. "Look daddy! Our camper shell just hit that Highway Patrol vehicle behind us. He looks angry!"

I read that and immediately heard Ralphie's voice from the Simpson's saying it (Police Chief Wiggin's son). Heheheh...

The bad news from today's meeting is two fold. First, today they specifically asked right at the door if anyone brought any cameras, so no spy photos. Second, the Focus group was not Avalanche owners brought back to talk about the new AV like I thought it would be, it was just a more detailed and discussed version of what we'd already done on all the trucks.

Also, the GM employee who I gave the URL to a couple days ago wasn't there today so I didn't have anyone to discuss our list of improvements with. I will see if I can get some contact info for her anyway.

Stay tuned.

Hope I'd get a request.
Swap the 60/40 seat around to have the big part behind the passanger side. Sucks for us tall folks.

HER? Ohhhhhh, I get it. You went back to see, HERRRR! Didn't you get HER cell number and the best time to call the first time?
BTW, how did you know my son's name is Ralphie?

???

Well, if you ever get the chance to mention, I would like to see;

More power
Quadrasteer
Black cladding (not grey or charcoal)
Trans temp guage
Backup sensor or camera
12v outlet in bed
Reinstate glove compartment and underhood lighting
Navigation system
Matching spare wheel and tire when you get a Z71
SS Package (all wheel drive)
Split midgate

and my number one request....... MORE DURABLE PAINT JOB - THIS ONE SCRATCHES AND CHIPS WAYYYYY TO EASY...

I know there is more, but I am tired and cannot think anymore...

Remember this, (and you "CAN" mention this to GM)
I HAVE A NUMBER OF TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GM does NOT give a rats A$$ as to what we think, they haven't for 15-18 years now. Although I bought the AVY. cause it suited me needs. it is EXTREMELY UNDER POWERED!!!!@ as we all know.

You can bet if Dodge had come out with this unit, it WOULD of had not only the look but the BALL that go with the attitude and it would of had damn light, air compressor... and they would of had my money too!

The latest Cr*p GM pulled was with the SS pick, what they showed at the show and got written on was a true SS sharp looks/ power. (the only thing they screwed up on on that was it was a 4 seater (DUH) if they produced that one It would of been in my driveway, but look at what hit the streets as a production truck.
SAME GOES WITH THE Anniversary Z28, and Vet. way under powered aspecially for an Anniversary edition.

So it does not matter what we want... GM does not give 2 S**ts.

We are left to do what we want on our own, meaning MODS, MODS AND MORE MODS.

Sorry for venting...

If Dodge is so good at giving truck buyers what they really want, why aren't they outselling Ford, Chevy, GM, etc?

The AV has the same horsepower as the venerable Suburban which has been around and successful for a LONG time. It weighs in only a few hundred pounds more (400 for 1500 Z-71). That's a 7% bump in weight which. The same increase in horsepower would only get you 20 more ponies which certainly wouldn't make you change your mind about whether or not it was underpowered.

Of course, that's without even taking a look at the 2500 with it's 8.1L engine. It puts out within 25hp of the Hemi and almost 20% more torque. You could start talking diesels but I don't think towing power is what you meant when you say the vehicle is underpowered. But if you are, the Duramax Diesel puts out 300hp and 520ftlb torque compared to the 305/555 from the Cummins Turbo Diesel. Again those numbers are so close it isn't worth arguing over as you'd never notice the difference from the driver's seat. We're looking at a Silverado here, not the AV. But Dodge only has one kind of Truck to pick from so it's only fair to compare apples to apples.

And lastly, if you want to talk about show vehicles you have to realize that NO ONE produces a vehicle that's 100% like the one that they unveil at car shows and if they do it's the exception, not the norm.

Ditto on those damn paint chips! I think I have more chips on my Av in 1 year than I had on all 5 of my prior vehicles put together!

TXAVy, I never said dodge was so good.
I pointed outthat I would bet "If" Dodge did come out with an AVY truck
"the first of it's kind" it would have all the goodies (Iwould bet on it) but since they didn't oh well GM it is.

Albeit, the # are close on the examples put forth. I made no direct comparisons.

As to "And lastly, if you want to talk about show vehicles you have to realize that NO ONE produces a vehicle that's 100% like the one that they unveil at car shows and if they do it's the exception, not the norm. " GM DID WITHTHERE AVY.

Dodge did with there new beast RAM "SRT10" PICK UP not one but 3- going on 4 now
1 prowler
2 viper
3 PT Cruiser
4 SRT 4
5 RAM "SRT10"

all show stuff, witch came to market as they were shown.

I know my name is on the list for the RAM "SRT10".

Not like the show SS, which turned out to be. Well ...

We are all intitled to our opinios, mine is what I have stated, and although I "am " a GM guy, Gm has NOTHING which will be in the same line up mentioned above or Fords Lighting.SHO line up. NOTHING!

And I have had them all believe it or NOT.

DragonSlayer, I beg to differ, but what makes you think the Avalanche came to the market unchanged? Not too long before they were actually released, the show vehicles they were carting around were advertised as having a 365HP V-8, 18" wheels, dual exhaust, a roof rack with roof-mounted fog lights, North Face style interior (except it had a red theme, and everywhere there would be a North Face logo, they had a Chevy logo) and a billet fuel tank door. That was the Avalanche I came to know and long for in the seeming eternity before they finally released it, under the notion that what I saw was what I'd get. Needless to say, I was rather dissapointed to see that they'd eliminated most of the coolest stuff.

Now I don't know about those Dodge vehicles, I don't really follow them. But for all I know, I suspect that they very well may not be as identical to the concepts as you think.

GM "had" a runner in the Lightning field, but it was several years ago. Anyone care to run the numbers on the GMC Cyclone versus the Lightning for me? I'm not into "street rod trucks" so I don't have all the numbers, but from what I recall one of the bigger reasons the Cyclone went away was because it was treading too heavily on the Corvette's stomping grounds. For the same reason Ford pulled the Escort GT Turbo off the line before it was even built because it embarassed their Mustang in the 1/4 mile.

I have the 2002 2500 and have seen the 2003 the rear bench has a fold down drink and arm rest the newer version in the 03 sucks the 2002 it much nicer and to be honest makes sense.

can they split the midgate?

Side door entry to the bed?

Yeah I have a suggestion.

How about including the toc and tranny temperature gauge in the heavy duty towing package in the 1500 series??? It only seems like it should be included in a towing package and not have to be added on as an aftermarket mod.

No offense taken at all! I have to agree with you that I like the front clip of the cladded AV better than my EXT. Looks a lot tougher.
All the best,
JS

i like the AV front clip better too. but, i think the "fully" painted EXT looks real good. but, the cladding has a niche too.
so just offer both. make it an option for the consumer. this could be interesting.

OOH!!! ... ooh oOH OOH!

I just got a call back from the research company asking if I would come back tomorrow and be part of an actual focus group. Of course I said yes. This time the digital camera is going with me, though I'll hide it of course. I can't guarantee that I'll get a chance to take any pictures or that I'll be able to post any of them either. But at least the opportunity will be there.

If there's anything you want "them" to hear about the Avalanche, now is the time to say it. Anything you like that you'd rather not go away? Anything you hate that you'd rather got changed? I know there are a lot of one-off ideas floating out there, but I'm looking for things that lots of people have mentioned that I may have missed. I promise to come back and read the new posts on this thread before I leave tomorrow morning.

Here's what I pulled out of our own forums.

ENGINE
- 6.0L
- Diesel

Chassis/Body
- Better approach/departure angles
- Bumpers/Brush Guard that accepts winch
- Color Matched Cladding (ie. EXT)
- Larger Fender Wells (for larger tires)
- Move Trailer connector up to bumper
- Clearance for Tire Chains

CARGO
- 60/40 Split Midgate
- Power Midgate window
- Back Seat Clothes hooks
- Tailgate and Saddle Bag Remote Locks
- 12v Power (w/ Cargo Light switch) in the Bed
- Rear seatbacks Flat and cover hinge area.
- Drop/Swing Tailgate
- Ability to stow bedcovers under bed surface.

OTHER
- Quadrasteer
- Backup Sensor
- Fix reflection in rear window
- Power inverter with outlets in console/back seat/bed
- HID Lights
- Transmission Temp Guage on the cluster
- Replace "silly" deletes (under hood & glove box light).

excellent list of suggestions.

Although I agree with the list of improvements, I have one major concern about the future of the Av: COST! I guess you could have these all as options so you pay as you go. But my biggest obstacle to putting an Av in my driveway was the cost. Once the incentives came to fruition I went ahead and bought one.

However, if the Av gets a makeover down the line and a lot of this cool stuff is added as standard equipment, the price of the Av is going to skyrocket upwards towards the EXT price.

One of my major concerns for GM is to keep the price within reason.

To add my thoughts to this, I would go back and look at the '02. My '02 has a lot more features than my sisters '03 and the '04 has even less than the '03. :8: I say move forward but don't take away the good things... 3 12volt plugs in the dash with a flip cover, larger center consol between the bucket seats, the '02 back seat armrest w/tray and cup holders. :7: Switch the split bench in the back. Split the mid gate. Roll down back window. UPDATE the dash and gauges. May be offer a Denali type package.

Ain't that the truth... I actually moved the drivers seat to the other side, it has the same effect. (y)

Cool! Just color me GREEN with envy!!! How about one of those camera phones? Of course, they're probably on to that....

An artist rendering would work....go to local police when done.....and find the sketch artist hehehe

Great news Blue_03! :) Take lots of mental notes and we'll compare what we recall when you get back. If you're lucky you'll get to speak to someone who cares about the Avalanche Feedback. The company doing the research was very careful to cover all the name plates and not mention any company names when talking about any of the vehicles as they're trying to be as brand neutral as possible. If we don't hear from the person I gave the link to soon though I'm going to relate what I can remember here. Obviously they wouldn't let us take any pictures, but if they were worried about people "telling" what they saw they'd have had us sign some more binding non-disclosure documents I'd imagine.
