I think my power window motor is going, going, GONE.

A couple days ago I noticed that my driver side window started letting down slower than usual so I thought...Oh oh.? Well I said I'll just see how much life it has left.? It goes up fine but coming down is the problem.? Well today it's gotten so bad to where I have to help it down by pushing down on it while holding the button.? What a bummer!? :E:

I'll take it to my local dealer tomorrow and let them fix it.? I'm assuming it's the motor.? Any ideas what this might cost me?? I don't have any warranty left.

Oh yeah one more thing: I heard that the inchannel ventvisors can have an affect on your power window motor. Has anyone ever heard of this and possibly know if it's true?

you can find a good deal for the regulator and motor on ebay, there is a good write up on how to replace them here on the forum

Holy Cow! $40

I just spent $80 at partsamerica.com for this part. Looks like I'll be returning it to Checkers here pretty soon to order this one instead! What a price difference.

Well...wait...has anyone here ever actually used one of these eBay window regulators? Are they good parts?

Yes! Just like I thought. According to the dealer the motor and regulator are bad. I kind of figured that but what I didn't figure was the cost to repair it. $475 is the amount I was quoted. They told me they could have it done in about 2 hours. I told them that I would bring it back.

It looks like I'll be shopping for the parts myself and try to find someone who knows how to do this.

It's funny that before I took it to the dealer the window only went down real slow. It went up fine but now after they have had it, it doesn't go up or down without me having to push on it. :E:

Are these parts good. If they are so cheap on Ebay it's hard to believe that the dealer price would be so high. I wonder what they are charging me just for the parts.

I ended up just buying my regulator assembly from partsamerica.com. It cost $80. The benefit of this is that you can easily take advantage of warranty or return it to any Checker's, Kragen's, Advance Autoparts, etc. All the participating stores are listed on the partsamerica.com website.

The repair itself was really really easy, so there's no way I would EVER consider paying $475 to have the $tealer do it for me. It does take a couple hours, though, but only because you have to dismantle the door. It is a good idea to have the Helm's manual with you.

Heck, for what you're saving, you can definitely afford to get the nice manuals!

My drivers window motor just went last week, so i went to my local scrap parts/ aftermarket replacement store and bought a brand new motor/ regulator out of a new box for $100 and had it installed in 3 hours :B:

One my driver windown I didn't let the dealer do it because they were charging too much but I did let a firestone dealer do it for ab out $250. One year later my passenger side went bad and no I didn't pay that much to get it repaired. I bought the parts needed online for $85 and had someone install it for me for $50. Now that same part has gone bad again. It has a one year warranty and I have already requested a RMA# for the return but I just haven't had a change to get it taken out.
