Idea for a Z71 option

I posted an idea in response to another thread and thought I would start a thread with that idea to see what y?all think about it.    :0:

I had mentioned that I wasn't all that thrilled with the new body design of the AV, like many others here and that I wanted to see what the Z71 looks like after it debuts in the fall before passing final judgement. I?m not ready to throw the baby out with the bath water just yet. Like some others here, I thought maybe a cladding option as a possibility for the Z71. If GM is smart they will present it as an option, since many hunters prefer it to prevent the ever present brush markings. Then a thought started to jell. (No, I?m not Jellin? yet). Maybe Chevy could offer a  Z71 Huntsman edition. The same Z71 package that we all know and love with some cool additional badging, combination On/Off road or Off Road tires, a couple of FRS radios, a camo Avalanche cap, that sort of thing.

Then things started to get bigger. What if Chevy would put out a Z71 celebrity edition. There are Eddie Bauer, Orvis and other outfitter editions out there. Chevy could have the Z71 Ted Nugent (or other Hunting Celeb.) Huntsman (Sportsman?) Edition or something on that line. Add cladding (or WBH it), special red, white and blue badging inside and out, maybe even some special Z71 decals. Maybe something along the lines of the ones that TribaAV and Streamline Designs sell. Do the tire thing like I mentioned in the previous paragraph and include similar goodies. Caps, jackets, you name it. Cabela?s even sells soft fabric gun racks that strap to the backs of the front seats. The are so many other things that Chevy could choose from to include in the package that would make it pretty cool. It would be a great way for Chevy to reconnect with the millions in the hunting community

Think about it, The General could market it as ?The Ultimate Hunting Edition of the Ultimate Utility Vehicle endorsed by the Ultimate Hunter?. THE NUGE. God, Guns and Rock and Roll. Definitely LIKE A ROCK. I'll bet Nugent would go for it. The guy bleeds Red, White and Blue and rarely passes up an opportunity to promote the hunting sports.  It would be the perfect hunting endorsement.

What do y?all think?  ??? ??? ???

And if the folks at GM actually do check in here and did do this, don?t forget where you heard it. Yeah right. Like this idea would stand a snowball?s chance in hell of EVER coming to fruition. I?m not sure that the powers that be at GM have the stones to do something like this, because of the potential grief that the anti-hunting nazi?s out there might try to cause. Oh well, I thought it might be a cool idea. And it was fun putting it together.    :0:

Hmmmm... Not a completely messed up idea.. needs some refinement though.  Ok.. a lot of refinement.  But it has possibilities.

You're absolutely right.  A "hunter/sportsman edition" would detract from the soccer moms image TPTB have decided to market it towards now.  God forbid the PETA supporting, furry creature loving, anti-gun, soccer moms drive their little yuppie larva around in something marketed to hunters.

I personally don't think that any reputable company would want to connect itself to Ted Nugent. While he may be a somewhat decent singer, most probably consider him a wierdo and an extremist.

Now, Dale Earnhardt was quite an avid sportsman, had and still has popularity with Chevrolet. He would make a far better candidate to have his name stuck on it. Probably wouldn't happen. Dick Cheney edition?

There is some kind of company sorry don't remember the name that sells protective camo and straight color protector kits for trucks that go off road. These stay on by magnetic somehow. Possibly a magnetic vinyl like the signs many companies use.

I love your signature onyx_z71!!! (y)
'02 Onyx black Z-71 With Cabin filter, under hood light, standard side air bags, dual sun visers, two cargo lights, glove box lamp, glove box and console locks, rear door lamps, and whatever else GM has deleted since '02.

Maybe true, but we're talking about an option package that would be marketed to the hunter/sportsman community, not the whole demographic. And as such, not to the soccer moms. This would probably be a way to bring some back into the fold that are feeling left out about now.

Besides, no matter if GM is looking at the soccer moms, they don't buy trucks anyway. Not enough room. They buy m/v's and SUV's.

He may be to the younger soccer moms and the PETA fairies. The rockers from my generation (also the largest demographic age group that buys the AV) and most hunting enthusiasts however don't. He is however, about the most widely recognizable hunting name you could find next to Fred Bear. And the most vocal representative of the hunting and shooting sports lately.

Besides, Nugent doesn't necessarily have to be the label name. His is the name that came to mind first when I had this brain fart and one I would like to see on it.

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to make this package for the 2007 version?
Southern Comfort version,

Yeah, there is a thread that I just looked at where the guy is selling an '03 one of these. I am not a big fan of decorating everything in camo though. But it doesn't look bad at all.

I would like to see a Chevy option sans camo with some cool badging and a few goodies. Like CLADDING.    >:D
