Ok, first of all... I am new and this is an awesome resource.  I have looked through many threads looking for an answer to my issue:

My 2005 Av transmission (periodically) will hang between 2nd and 3rd, not downshifting to 1st and never shifting to 4th.  I have had the 1-2 and 3-4 shift solenoid replaced, but issue not cured.  I can turn off the truck and re-start and sometimes this is a fix, but only short-term.

I have read about the ignition switch being a potential culprit.  I am going to have my mechanic look there next. With that said, I also have an intermittent issue with my driver side heated seat coming on automatically.  Could these two issues be related?

Thanks.

welcome to the club skellyj

the ignition sure sounds like it may be going out, I seem to recall another issue with the seat warmer, let me see what i can find

the only thing i could find was this, which appears to effect prior years...

Drivers or Passengers Heated Seats Turn on By Themselves.

Condition/Concern:
A customer may comment that the front passenger or drivers heated seats turn on by themselves. Dealer technicians my not be able to duplicate the concern and no DTCs will be set. This concern maybe caused by the customer inadvertently contacting the heated seat switch.

Recommendation/Instructions:
To correct this concern, a new low profile switch has been released. The new part number switches are as follows:

15116861 passenger

15116862 drivers w/ memory, heated, and adjusted pedals

15116863 drivers w/ memory and heated only.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.

Models:
(03 and 04 Chevrolet Silverado) and (03 and 04 Chevrolet Avalanche) and (03 and 04 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban) and (03 and 04 GMC Sierra, Sierra Denali) and (03 and 04 GMC Yukon, Yukon XL, Denali, Denali XL) and (03 and 04 Cadillac Escalade, EXT, ESV)

Thanks for the quick replies.  I read the post about lower profile buttons, but I am pretty sure this isn't "driver error", maybe the ignition switch will do the trick.  Thanks again.

ignition switch problem is not related to seat heater problem....

what other issues do you have?

None to speak of....other than a sharp squeak (intermittent) somewhere that sounds like it is coming from under drivers side dash (floorboard, speaker, etc.) area???

As ygmn mentioned, the seat heaters are not related to the ign switch faults.

The seat heaters are controlled by the memory seat module as well as the data sent to that module from the driver or passenger door modules, from the switch commands from the particular door.

Power is provided from the battery "hot" via a seat circuit breaker, If that were open / faulty, the seat positioning motors wouldn't work either.

So, back to the reprogramming TSB, or connections / heating element(s), either of which have become more faulty.

Are you still in warranty?

Good luck! :)

No, not still in warranty, but good news...it has been a week since the ignition switch was replaced and no shifting issues.  I think we have a winner!

As for the heated seats, the auto-on issue has not happened since either.?

Thanks for all the help.

Well yes, the switch presents transmission shifting problems as one of it's many possible faults.

Just not (directly) a seat electrical problem without other more noticeable problems with it, besides that of a trans fault.

`Glad it worked out. :)

Anyone ever figure out the "automatic" seat warmer problem?  I had trouble with mine randomly coming on last year, then it went away.  After a very heavy rain last night, though, the problem is back - my warmer (I think just the back) was going nuts today.  Thankfully I found the bright green connector this afternoon and was able to disconnect it for now, but it would be nice to know how to get this fixed.  I'm reluctant to bring it to a dealer and have them just start replacing parts without fixing the problem.

I am having this problem as well, cept we didn't have the heavy rain. Mine came on (the back part only) on my drivers seat about an hour ago. I thought it was just me, but maybe not.
