Interactive Views Of New WBH Avalanche

The more I see it the more I like it. I still only wish they would have put the AV grille on it instead of the inverted Silverado grille.

Spinning it round, it reminds me a lot of a Suburban. Which I guess isn't all that suprising.

Nice feature.....but there is just something about it as it was spinning that kind of turned me off....and that is the resemblence to the Silverado....I personally think it looks a lot like the Silverado...which isn't bad...but I would rather stand apart in the crowd a little more...still a good choice nonetheless...an Av is an Av... :B:

I agree with you both that I wish they made it without looking like the Silverado. ?It makes me wonder if in another few years there will be any choice... all Avs will probably resemble the Silverado, which is probably the look of the upcoming Suburban/Tahoe as well.

I was glad to see these views so I could see the backend, and also slap some other colors on the truck. ?This is still the version of the Av I will be buying, but I doubt I'm the typical buyer of the Av in the fan club ?:)

It's still a pretty truck, but you are right, except for the sail it looks excactly like a Silverado. I really like the 2-tone effect on my '02, but I do like that '03 charcoal grey metallic color, with or without cladding. I can't beleive they took off the cladding and added fender flares. Us cladding folks want fender flares, too!!

That's what "Modding" is for.
BTW, even though all the pictures show the flares, looking at the specs it appears to be an option. BTW, the option prices finally are there on Edmunds. "PCY - Black Wheel Flare and Molding Package $250". I wonder what the "GND - Ground Effects Package" is?

My take on the WBH:

I like the idea, but as others have said, the silverado front end doesn't do the truck justice.

Otherwise:

Non painted door handles
Non painted mirrors
Smooth taillights
DRL's in grill instead of the cool location :)
CHROME bumpers ??

I think they have a winner, but it is not the truck for me. I like my options....

It's interesting that they spent all that money for the re-tooling to make the body panels without the cutout's for the body hardware, but they didn't spend the money for a new tailgate. The body hardware strip on the lower part of the tailgate looks very out of place on that truck!! Also the Silverado wheels just don't look right to me. I'll keep my WITH body hardware thank you! :B:

Huh. Now that someone mentioned it, the WBH door handles ARE black... bummer, I like the body-color ones...

Now I just have to decide between Yellow and Sunset Orange Metallic!!!

Well I love my cladding - but ya know it kinda grows on ya the one without it. ;) Maybe for the wife in Arrival blue ;D

NY pete....go with the Yellow...if seems like a very hot color...especially being new on the scene for 03...this is just my personal opinion...I'm also a fan of the Orange metallic as well.....have you considered the arrival blue?... :B:

I love my cladding, but must admit that I was looking forward to the WBH. I am very disapointed. (Nothing against those who like the vehicle, we are all different after all) It appears that Chevy simply took a HD (heavy duty edition of the Silverado) and slapped on the AV tailgate, and the bed covers. It seems to have lost ALOT of the AV uniqueness.
Who knows, maybe in person it will look different.
COME ON CHEVY!! DON"T GIVE UP ON THE AV!!!!!

The Silverado 1500 HD Crew Cab is a totally different beast. It is a pickup. The WBH is still based on the Suburban- just like the Avalanche with the plastic.

I guess I am partial because I have already ordered one (WBH) and I can't wait to get it!

Yes, the HD is a pick-up, but my observation is that they APPEAR to have taken alot from the HD appearence wise and used it with in the AV. I have a 2002 AV, and a 2003 HD. The drive and handling are worlds apart obviously, but it was mainly the appearence I was refering to. Sorry for the confusion.
We are allowed to like different things ya know. ;)

I don't like it. As mentioned by others, it looks too much like a Silverado (and I just traded my Silverado in on my AV - so maybe I'm just tired of that look). But I must admit . . . the first time I saw my AV, I didn't like it either. Maybe I'll adjust :2: I will say that the black is kinda' pretty, since I do like the "black-out" look

I LOVE the "armor" look of my truck. The cladding has already saved me NUMEROUS scratches and dings to the pretty red paint. Can you only imagine how many trips to the body shop Chief would have made if he didn't have cladding? ;D

I love the look of the WBH, and will be purchasing one as soon as they come out, hopefully. Love the clad-less look, and the all-black or metallic gray look pretty sweet on the website. Only reason that I am not ordering is that I want to see them in person before I pull the trigger.

Well I took a long look at the WBH Av I'm glad I have clad everytime I climb into the back(step in bumper) I'm sure lots of people will like the WBH, I don't hate it. After all :B: :B:

I am with you, I would never buy a vehicle without first seeing it first. Plus, my local dealer has not been informative at all about the WBH option, and when they'd be available.

This weekend, I drove through a chevy lot to look at the new Silverados, since that is what the WBH will look like. They have rather grown on me, and I'm sure I will get used to the look, but I like the regular Av front end. At least with it being like the Silverado, the availability of parts will be greater for mods and other things I may want to do to it.

I was also working under the assumption that the WBH shown on the chevy website included the flare/molding package, which shows as the black plastic around the wheel wells and along the sides. I saw some Silverados on the dealer lot without that plastic, again assuming that's what the WBH would look like without the flare/molding. I haven't decided if I want this look, but from the trucks I saw without it, the front plastic and silver bumper really visually stuck out (not necessarily in a good way).

It also seems that chevy has given us a preview of the new look of the Suburban, less the look of the tailgate. I was a bit surprised that they went with plastic for the door handles, but this follows what they did with the Silverado.

For all things considered, I am very excited for the new WBH Avalanche. I am after a more main stream looking vehicle than what the current Av offers. That being said, I almost purchased the current Av, until I found out the WBH was coming out. What a fine performing vehicle during my test drive! It seems that every chevy truck I've ever seen has had to grow on me, so I'm sure in a few years the new Silverados and WBH Av will have grown on me too. From everything I've read, chevy has committed to this current look/design for the next 5 years.

I don't have a problem with the WBH AVs, as long as you have an AV you're OK by me.

My dad loves the 3/4 ton 4x4 Sunset Orange Metallic WBH one..... ;D

I won't falt anyone who buys an AV WBH, but to me it will never be a true to the concept AV. And after 1 year and 12,000 miles I am convinced that I would never buy an AV without the cladding. :B:

I agree, the cladding is what makes it stand out... >:D

It's just a smooth marketing plan to try to pull the others in that are afraid of something new

GM did ok to offer the WBH version...I just wish they would give the total Av look to the rest of the truck line...
they only went 1/2 way with the front of the new trucks...they should have matches the headlight / running light pattern...then they all would be cool!!! >:D

Well, it is a cool little site they have there, but they should never had taken the cladding off the truck. It's still a good looking truck, but it lacks a little aggressiveness...in my opinion of course. I would'nt knock anyone for getting one, but, I'm glad mine has the cladding.

As one of the first people on this site to support the WBH, I have to be honest and say that I am not as opposed to the cladding as I was at first. I still plan on getting the WBH, but after looking at some of the pictures of the AVs that you guys have, I have to admit the cladding works on some of the vehicles. I don't think my WBH will look nearly as good lifted, with the big mac-daddy tires on it as the ones I've seen here. Luckily, I am not planning to do that, and my AV will be probably used 90% on road, 10% off. And the 10% off won't be anything crazy, just getting the mountain bike to the trailhead.

Does anyone know what the base price of the WBH will be vs. with the cladding? I also wonder if the WBH goes over big, is this the beginning of the end of the cladding. Maybe all of us with cladding will have a "classic".
Maybe an AV is an AV...and maybe it drives like an AV...but to me the WBH just looks too much like the Silverado. Or does the Siverado look like an AV :cautious:
