Bordum is a terrible thing.? What can be worse then bordum?? Reading what other members do when they are bored!? So after reading post after post of Grnxnam's 12" monitor & DVD/cubby mod thread, I decided to jump in on a fairly inexpensive but verrrrry time consuming mod.? I'm gonna re-do my whole interior to match the exterior theme.? White & Blue.? Even found a cheap source for the molded carpet, though that wont be til later in the summer.

To get a concept of where I'm painting.  In my 05 the dash is 2 toned.  dark grey up top and light on the bottom.  ALL the bottom will be done. Glove box bezel's center console ect.  Should keep me busy quite a while.

So yesterday I started small with the side cover of the dash along the passenger door.? Began by hand sanding.? (Dont try this at home) it takes to dang long.? Found my orbital sander, stocked up on paper of varying grit and away I went.?

1) Pic of the outside to see how the interior will come along
2) Before pic of panel

After sanding and sanding and sanding, did I mention sanding.  I had sprayed the panel but when it dried could really see the area's that were missed.  Which led to more sanding.  It's an extra step but works out well as you can see every little divet in the plastic once its been sprayed.

1) Sanding after first coat
2) Second coat

I'll shoot a couple more coats tomorrow between sanding the next piece.  Not sure how it will look with just the paint.  I did pick up a can of clear.  Not sure if I wanna try that.  If I dont like it, I'll have to sand that darn piece again.

please accept my apologies.

thought about it...I used 320 grit paper, then painted...used 1000 grit between coats.  If you can avoid dust, it looks great.  This was before my screw up and took it to get sprayed.

Do I need to warn you before I post pics of my console, if I make one?

Sanding is a huge PITA.  You doing the whole dash?

The hole "lower" dash. Everything that is light gray currently will be turned blue.  Dont wanna rip out the upper dash and I dont want additional sun glare caused by painting. So that will stay dark grey for now.  Perhaps a dash cover later on.
So as it stands now:
Fuse covers
Glove box
Dash bezel
Center console upper/lower bezel
Storage bin lid
entire lower console
front kick plates
door sill trim Front/rear
all 4 seat frame covers
"B" pillars
"C" pillars
Midgate plastic
Upper rear window where the releas latches are.

That should keep me very busy.  I've already looked into replacement carpet. Not expensive at all.  Then I'll deal with color match two tone katzkin seats to replace my current katzkin, then deal with the head liner and overhead console mod.

that'll keep you busy.? good luck.

want some motivation from? fullsizechevy.com ?

Looks very nice B, but I can imagine what a PITA it is to keep everything clean of dust and fingerprints.  I have 3 kids........could you imagine?

Great shots, thanks! ?Basically that's the idea. ?Plus the doors (still working on the final plan) ?May go the graphic wrap route on that one.

Just not sure how rattle can paint is gonna come out, or if I wanna try the clear coat. ?Worse case I bring it to the GF's connection and only have to pay for materials. ?But would rather do it myself to work piece by piece and keep the AV some what together.

Son of a, that's sweet!   where's my ipod i know i put it down here somewhere

I watched them do what is called Hydro Graphix during a tour of the Southern Comfort Conversions plant. ?Very cool process and REAALLLY simple to do. ?Research that and see what you think.

I read about that last year when Bitdriver was still active.  Very cool concept and some sweet things can be accomplished that way but $$$ I aint got!  :E:

Do it yourself and save some money.  Just have to buy the ink and perform the work in a stainless steel sink big enough to accept what you want to dip.

Did your dash bezel get clear coated or just sprayed with paint?

Might have to re-read up on that later.  However, I think going with this blue to match the outside and getting someone to airbrush the stars in certain areas may be an option also

we need a bowing down smilie !  that is absolutely GORGEOUS !  i would LUV to see that in person   :B:

took it to get painted.  its actually color matched to Onyx Black.  they were supposed to clearcoat it also.  I'm assuming they did.

with a dust free location for paint, you can get a nice finish with rattle canning it.  If I had a garage, I think I would attempt to spray my whole interior.

It looks as if folks think those pics you posted are of you dash.  I think you better get that new console and the rest painted so their not dissappointed!
