Is it safe to drill into the bed covers?

I picked up a couple of tie downs that would attach to the top of the bed covers that required 1/8th inch holes to be drilled in the covers.

I was going to silicone the holes to help prevent water leakage, and they are more for looks than actually holding things down on the covers but they could if it was light enough.

Just a little more chrome on a black truck, you know if it don't go chrome it lol....

What are you going to use the tie downs for??  The bed panels can support some weight but not a bunch..

Mostly for looks but possibly something very light in weight. I really don't want to push my luck trying to use them to hold anything heavy in place that is what I have a trailer for.

Read my manual each cover can hold 250 lbs so I don't think a 1/8 hole is going to hunt them

I saw this awhile back and it looks like a set of bars for handicap bathrooms mounted on the cargo doors. Probably good for something small.

LMAO...I'm sure that's how the owner would want that mod described...LMAO

If you want them to hold a load in any direction then should go through with bolt and backup plate...

Agreed, I would use a bottom plate under the cover to spread the load...

i would say u would be ok like every one else says add a steel plate underneith so the bolts do pull through

Those use to be all the rage back in the 90's. ?All the full size p/u's use to have them run the length of the bed. ?I had a set I modified with 2 offroad lights in each side (cut into the tube) ?

Sorry for the small pick Can someone tell me what size works best as in pixels and width and height  thanx

I think a 3rd set would look better too.
500X375 with a maximum of 100kb is a nice picture size

looks good, a third set would even it out nicely

Well the 3rd set is now in my possession.....

Somehow I knew I would get it just to balance things out.  These are on clearance for $1.50 per pair at Auto Zone, at least here in Wisconsin (Milwaukee area). They do have more costly ones, (that i would propbably trust more for actual holding) but I really don't plan on using them for hold downs more for appearance.. It cost me more for the stainless screws to go through the covers with locking nuts than the hold downs did.
