... or is it just me?

Everytime I go by another Av on the road, it always appears to be bigger and taller than mine. I assume it's just my eyesight (or lack thereof), but has anyone else thought this?

If you have a Z-66 or Z-71, you have the tallest available. It's probably just because you've gotten used to driving yours and they "feel" smaller than they actually are. They have a great road presence! :B:

There's a difference in height? ?I didn't know that.
Goo can probably tell you exactly, but The Z-66 is slightly taller than the base and I believe the Z-71 is 3/4" taller than the Z-66, Goo, can you verify this? :B:

Both the Z66 and Z71 are taller than base models simply because of a larger tire/wheel combination. I don't know what size tires the Z66 comes with...this may lead to a further difference between the two Z's.

Flynhigh: Shhhh! You'll make my Av jealous and I'll have to sell a kidney or something to get it lifted! ;)

If I'm not mistaken, the factory tires are the same size, just the Z-71 has off road tread, Z-66 all season on road :B:

According to the Chevy's published dimensions for 2003, the models with 16" tires have a ground clearance of 8.6 inches (218.4 mm) and with 17" tires, 8.8 inches (223.5 mm). ?So we are looking at difference of about .2 inches.

So there is no difference between the Z-66 and Z-71? I could've sworn the '02's had a small difference. No biggie ?:B:

I WISH my Av had a ground clearance of 8.8 feet!! Even Flynhigh would be small then!! ;D

I thought I noticed the Z71's where slightly taller on the dealer lot as well but maybe it was an illusion.

That reminds me.

I need to check the clearance at the local mall parking garage. I know I used to be able to slap the clearance bar through my sunroof. I wonder if my new spoiler can clear it now.

Wonder how many people are out in the garage with the tape measure measuring their AV right now?

Did Goo mean for those dims to be inches for his ground clearance? like 8.8" and 8.6"

I see the height listed as 73.3" OA for 2wd and 4wd on the chevy site.....

Am I having a brain problem again? >:D

Yes. I am talking about two different things. 73.3 is the Overall Height.

OK ... I am busted. I changed my original post. Too many numbers. Skidd has me see double looking up all of those option codes.

OK, I'm looking at my 2002 brochure, in the back under Exterior Dimensions, they have a picture of the AV and show hight at 2wd 73.3" and 4X4 73.6" With 79.8" wheelbase 130.0", overall length 221.7" It doesn't discriminate bewtween base and Z-66 or Z-71 and 2500 4X4 :B:

Ah huh! Busted... I'm watching

But a comment on the original thread so as not to be accused of shameless posting.

Surely the ride height of the av will be directly related to the number of mods and weight of the driver.

Tire... Mmmm...

tire
[*] tired, tir?ing, tires
[*] intr.

To grow weary.
To grow bored or impatient.

To diminish the strength or energy of; fatigue.
To exhaust the interest or patience of; bore.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
(Middle English tiren, from Old English torian, tyrian. See deu-1 in Indo-European Roots.)
Synonyms: tire, weary, fatigue, exhaust, jade
2 These verbs mean to cause or undergo depletion of strength, energy, spirit, interest, or patience. Tire often suggests a state resulting from exertion, excess, dullness, or ennui: ?When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life? (Samuel Johnson). Weary often implies dissatisfaction, as that resulting from what is irksome or boring: found the long journey wearying; soon wearied of their constant bickering. Fatigue implies great weariness, as that caused by stress or overwork: ?fatigued by an endless rotation of thought and wild alarms? (Mary Wollstonecraft). To exhaust means to wear out completely, and it connotes total draining of physical or emotional strength: ?Like all people who try to exhaust a subject, he exhausted his listeners? (Oscar Wilde). Jade refers principally to dullness that most often results from overindulgence: ?Contemplation of works of art without understanding them jades the faculties and enslaves the intelligence? (John Ruskin).

Ahhh maybe Goo meant TYRE... now I get it. >:D
