Is the 6.0 gone? It is no longer listed on the chevy.com site as an option on any AV  :needhug:

Actually, it has never been listed as an option on the Chevy web-site or in the 2007 sales brochure.  I can understand the brochure as it was published in April 2006 before the 6.0L was available.  I do not understand why, now 5 months or so since it's been availble, Chevy.com does not give you the option to "build and price" a 6.0L Avalanche.  The only place I've seen it mentioned is in the Specifications area, under trailering.  There, you will see the tow ratings for the 5.3L and 6.0L with different rear ends.

Actually, it was listed on the GM canada site and eventually on the regular GM site under specs and options.  I don't recall it ever being listed in the build and price section, although it was on cars.com.  Since it's no longer in the specs and options section, I'd say it's history.  Maybe I have a collector's item.

Guys, here in Canada it is available and will be in the future according to the dealer.  I just ordered my 2007 LTZ Greystone Metallic.  After a lot of debate, i chose the 5.3 litre.  One thing we did not have available was a Z71 model.  That is until I drove by the dealer today and seen 2 on the lot.  I am a little choked because I wanted a Z71 and every dealer told me they were not available in Canada.  They are not even listed on the GM Canada website, so not sure what is going on there.  Anyway, cant wait for my truck and the fun will begin..... :beating:

That's because the Z71 isn't a MODEL, but rather a trim & suspension package available on top of a LT2 or LT3.  I just build one on GMCanada to be sure, and that's exactly how it is--just like down here.

Beach, you are correct.  I had never seen that before because i was always building the LTZ.  It is really odd the dealer never knew about it and even more odd that i have never seen one on the road up here.  There are tons of LTZ's on the road, but no Z71's.  Thanks for the lesson!!!!!

Yeah, it happens, and sadly a lot of dealers never really have a clue aside from "Well, do you want a blue one or a red one."  It's a bit different than it was in some previous years, which is confusing a bit, but oh well.  Hopefully that LTZ will more than keep you happy.

Does anyone know if the Z71 was offered in previous model years with engine options, or was it always just a single engine available w/ the Z71? I would love to get a 6.0L Z71 if they made that combo available in the '08s, but if they don't I have my eye on a 5.3L Z71 '07 and may just take advantage of the current incentives.

In previous years, there was only one option for 1/2 ton models, and being that the Z71 was just a package on a half ton model, they all just got the 5.3L--no other choice.

Now, with the 6.0L, it's odd that it isn't available on Z71 trims, as there's really no reason aside from possible plant capacity, so it MAY appear next year.  I keep thinking it will, as it would sort of be a natural thing from the beginning, but we don't know yet and won't until April 30th.

I?ve seen a post somewhere on this site that gave, what sounds like a plausible reason for no 6.0L option on the Z71.  This is not an exact quote?

?The hydra-matic super duty transmission attached to the 6.0L hangs down too low (due to its size), to allow for a skid plate.?

Perhaps someone from GM can verify the statement?
:(

If my information is correct, the physical size of the transmissions are the same.  It is only some internal parts that are different to make the 6.0 transmission "heavy duty".

Vegas1500, I hope you?re correct?

I like the Z71 package but want the extra performance provided by the 6.0L.  Especially after reading some of the mileage claims posted on this site. :D
