I'm back!
I am very proud to announce that my 9 years old son as just past all the requirements to be a black belt. He will be promoted Friday April the 20th, just before my GTG. I'll have a special cake for lunch to celebrate his achievement on Saturday.

Congratulation Jacob! You worked very hard to get to your goal.

Congratulations Jacob!!? What form of Karate?? My son Andrew has been taking Karate since he was 4 years old.? He is now 8 years old and is a Green belt, just brown and black to go.? The form of Karate he is studying, Wado Ryu, does not allow anyone below 10 years of age to accrue Black Belt status, so Andrew will be at Brown Belt for 2 more years.
 
Congrats to Jacob..What discipline? I have a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do

Karate is very good for kids to learn self control, discipline and focus. He must be an exceptional young man!

Very hard work indeed for both the trainer and the trainer's mother.  trAVelingman's widow, bless her heart, travels 38 miles each way twice a week (for the last 3 years) taking Andrew to the dojo.  There are closer dojo's, but we can think of no other Sensei that we would want Andrew to train under.
 
I am surprise to find out that we have a lot of Karate fan in the AV club.

Jacob as been doing Karate for 4 years. They call his black belt a JR Black belt because he can't fight an adult. Although he can do all the Kata's, self defence and breaks, he still can't beat an adult. They are not allow to have a full black belt before the age of 12. He might be a second or 3rd degree by then but he will still be called a JR. I do like that. I don't really see a 9 years old as a full black.

His discipline is called Sanshinkai. It means the "three power society". They do a mix of different techniques.

As of commuting to get to the Dojo, trust me I understand. I've been there at least 3 times a week. Plus, for the last 6 month, on Monday night for the special depute black belt class. Glad it's over.

Send me a PM with more info about what Wes(Dune) is. I will make a film at the celebration on Friday. You could probably use that. I don't see us charging any price unless you make money out of it.

Congrats to Jacob!  Thanks to Mom and Dad for their help in this achievement.  Maybe we should add a martial arts demonstration to STI!

Well I think if Huggy ask him he might say yes. He can even do Kata's with weapons. Could be fun.
