JEEP Style Cloth Top

Wouldn't it be cool if they came out with a removable jeep-style cloth top for the bed? It would match the AV's looks and it we could put larger items in the bed even in the middle of the winter. I personaly would not want the $2000 snug top, it would too big of a pain to take off.

I think you might have a great idea there. much easier to remove and store, yet could cover the whole back to keep items temporarily out of the weather.

This is a great idea! Would work really well for me on those occasions I put my wifes mobility scooter in the truck. Wouldn't have to break it down to get it under the covers. But the top would have to be easily installed/removed to keep it versatile. ;D ;D ;D

I have a buddy with a soft top wrangler, I should go over and check out how everything on his attaches. It should be too hard to design a soft top, but would have to find someone to make it.

I was thinking the same thing Rob. ?There has got to be someone in Columbus (or any big city) who makes custom soft tops. ?I'll look into it also. ?If you find anyone, let me know and I'll do the same. ;D ;D ;D ;D

well, if I can design it (am an architect, not engineer, but shouldn't be too hard).

I don't have any experience with anyone around here who could make something like that (Plus, no money right now to find out).

I bet they don't recommend driving around with the bed tent erected! ;D ;D

BUT . . . There might be some similarity as to how the tent attaches and how a cloth top might attach to the bed of the Av.

I know that there are some on this board who have the tent - any ideas?

You know what I saw that would look good on the Avy. It was a Hummer Open Top but where the bed would be they had a rack that was carrying snow boards. Now if this was the Avalanche, instead of this being a roof rack, this rack would be on top of the cargo panels. What do you all think? I don't know I kind of think it would be interesting

Anyone remember the BaseCamp concept Av? The tent from that thing looks (IMHO) alot better than the dome tent that came out later. At least it looks like a better starting point for a soft top.
