Dam, beat me to it. They from a Monte Carlo? I wanted to get the ones from a Silverado SS, which I figured would be hard to find just yet. Or the ones from either a Monte SS or a Camaro SS. Looks good! ;D

The SS logos off of a Silverado look like they might be too big. The logos from the Carlo are the same height as the AVALANCHE logo.

txyank1 if you ever get the SS from the Silverado please PM me with the # and price for them. and of course a pic. HeHe >:D

I just saw a Monte Carlo SS this morning on the way to work and thought I would look into the SS. Guess someone else had the idea first. At least I know the letters are the right size!

If you go to the local auto graveyard [junkyard] and ask they will usually let you mosy around the lot lookin' for small parts they don't usually take off cars 'cause not much demand. I found some "SS" letters this way but it is a helluva hunt and better bring your tools 'cause those boys won't lift a finger except to take y'alls money when time to leave. And, they cannot seem to get straight how much to charge so be nice and you may get a set for a buck or two. Happy hunting- the search is on.

Will do. Those look White. I always thought they were stainless steel or brushed aluminum. Maybe they're different on different colors? With my "Avalanche" being painted red maybe that would "stand out" better against the larger "SS". Now I'll have to pursue it. (y)
BTW, like the engine cover too!

I dont know about putting an SS badge on a truck that isn't even made as an SS model.....pretty ricey to me. Like Mitsu guys bading their eclipses as GST's or Honda guys putting stickers all over their car for stuff they dont have on it...

but hey to each their own

Im with you on that DUDE, ?like a Type R honda. ?Or even better I seen a Civic DX the other day and below the DX was a 5.0 emblem off a mustang. ;D hahaha

Dude,

I think that's part of the point. They don't make an SS edition, so these guys are using their creativity to make something they desire. And what would an SS editions have on it, in your opinion, that would make it an SS edition? If the General had stuck an SS logo on the Z66, would that have made it an SS edition? Some people want something unique and to stand out in the crowd, and some people want what everyone else has and blend into the crowd, as in a "herd" animal.

Roy :)

I understand that, but if I get a Cvic DX, and I swap a JDM Type R engine into it and throw a bunch of type R parts, its still not a type R, but some guy will badge it as that. Atleast he's done some work to it so if he wants to call it a type R its more qualified.

But look at a Silverado SS compared to a regular silverado. The diffrence is a lot of performance and speed. Do these SS trucks qualify as that?

You're using the current Silverado SS as the standard for what an SS is. The "SS" logo/emblem etc goes much further back and has been many things, over the years. An SS emblem on the outside of the vehicle doesn't make it power and speed, and conversely, the absent of the emblem doesn't make it any less absence and speed. I used to drag race against the Chevy Chevelle SS396's (plus some RoadRunners) and they could stay with me on the first half the 1/4 mile, but then I would pull away on the 2nd half. I had no performance/speed emblem on the outside of my car. The only thing that was not stock, on my car, was a low restriction breather and straight through glasspack mufflers. Under my hood, it could have been a 352, 390, or 428 c.i.d.

So, what you see on the outside is not always what is on the inside: both pluses or minuses. Some people want the "show & go", some "all show", some "no show, but lots of go" etc.

So, my feelings are, if it's what you like, and you're not hurting any one, then make your auto look and feel like you want it to look and feel. If you feel uncomfortable and suspect, by the mod, then don't do it. You can't please everyone in the world, so start with yourself first. Especially, since you are paying for it.

I like "GTR", as in the "R" for Roy, but that one is already used for something else and it wouldn't have the same effect. I would like something that would be unique and different, but also something that I would like.

BTW, it was a 428 c.i.d.

And deny the rest of us, who like it. Even if I didn't like it, it's your AV. Be creative, unique, and share with the rest of us, so that the rest of us can get some ideas also.

Did I miss the part about where you got the emblems?

Roy :)

If you means physically, then you are right. If you mean that it will cause people to stop sharing, and then we will all be the losers, then you're right also.

I received the emblems from a fellow AVer (name will be kept anonymous because I don't this member to be flooded with SS messages). I do have a part # and I will be posting it soon I am just verifying that it is the right size because there is a large SS logo and a small SS of which I have both. Give me a day or two.
