Has anyone else used this product?I am doing a test and have painted the cladding on the tailgate with this spray can paint and then a clear coat over that.Goes on smooth and easy.I will post on this after a month test on ware,if anyone else has used it let me know. They carry it at Wal Mart but AV ers with black or white are the only colors that match the paint.

I have used Krylon Fusion but the color selection is still limited, compared to their usual stable of spray paint. It is designed for plastic and does not require priming. It works. I used it to paint plastic step ladders for the garage--I haven't used it for the AV because I tend to stay with the Duplicolor line.

Here is the direct link...

Krylon makes great products BUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE LINE IS THE WORST! If you ever need help, good luck. They lied to me and gave me the runaround--I e-mailed them a nasty letter. NASTY!

Don't bet that it will match the black OR white paint that you have on your Avalanche! Just because it is black does not mean it matches!

Saw it advertised and been thinking about trying it on the lower valance. (The only light gray on the WBH) If it works it wouldn' take that much to paint ALL of the plastic on mine. Then it would all match. (Wouldn't do the bed covers)

Z66 BUTCH,I know what you mean and I am not sure about the white but the AV black for 02's is just plain gloss black. It matches and after a 24 hrs it looks so good that the rear bumper is getting the fusion & clear coat Monday

Butch,

They only make one color of Black! Now it may be flat or gloss or have metal flakes but black is black.

Now white is a different story and can be one of the hardest colors to match. Everyone?s white is a little different. At one time, I owned 3 white vehicles; all of the touch-up paints were a different shade. :p

sjudson, let us know how the Krylon Fusion holds up, I saw the commercials for it on TV too and though of our cladding too.

Great! Now if we could get Duplicolor to make some Fusion paint in factory colors we could all be happy!

I haven't used any on the Av yet, but I painted a Patio table with it and it's great. It is the easiest spray paint I've ever used. It has a larger spray pattern than others and goes on really nice. I still have the problem though of getting just the right amount so it has a smooth shiny finish and doesn't run. That's what I always struggle with when using a spray can. :cautious:

Just got Consumer Reports today, and they are reviewing a couple of paints made for plastics. Krylon Fusion being one of them. I haven't read all the details, but they are going to follow up in a future report on how well each of the paints held up.

If any of you saw my no more chrome post, you'd see I also used Krylon Fusion paint. The black matches up pretty close with the factory black paint. Plus, it's only the chrome bar so it's not really being compared too closely to surrounding body parts.

I painted the entire chrome bar AND grill area with about 10 coats. Covered that with about 10 coats of DupliColor clear coat. Looked great a month ago when I did it. Looks good now. I say good as I have taken on about 8 chips. It sticks well, but I am considering sanding 'er down, priming the whole thing and re-doing it all.

Your AV looks great. May I ask why are you going to take the 20 coats back down to prime?? Are planning on doing more of the cladding? I have a black 02 and looking at jumping into "testing" paints for my cladding. maybe starting with the clad on tailgate as test piece.

Thanks,

Steve (y)

I used the blue paint to paint my fuse box cover, under the hood. Screwed it up a bit and figured I could just sand and start over. Had a Heck of a time sanding it back off. It had a really good bite on the plastic. Just my .02

A quick Fusion update.... not only are there many more colors now, but recently "Textured" and "Hammered" finishes have been added! BTW, the Patio table and chairs have held up great! (Posted on: 10/07/03 11:05 AM

Painted my wheel wells with the hammered dark gray.  Comes really close to matching the Dark gray metallic paint on my Av so it looks great.  Holding up to all of the gravel and pebbles on the roadway.
