My panels are leaking between panel 1&2. Right above the lights in the bed. When I took it to the dealer a couple of weeks ago they said the fixed it. I took off the panels today and took a closer look at what they had did. They added some black sealer on the ends but did not do a very good job. There is a gap in ends so they will have to do it again. Not sure how good the seal is going to hold up in this TX weather.

Post up if anyone else has this same problem.

Mine has a slight leak but I have not tried to track it down. Interstingly, my salesdroid went to great lengths to tell me the bed "is not designed to be watertight". Must've had some complaints...

In another post sopmeone mentioned that there are some small adjustments that can be made, either on the panels or on the rails.

Keep us posted on the fix.

I have SEVERAL leaks around the hard-covers.The worst is at the front(a midgate).Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order.

The TSB on this(#01-08-57-002) is lengthy(I printed 20 pages)!Sounds like they ignored that on yours,WS6Y2K....

I've been unable to find TSB 01-08-57-002. Where to go to get most recent bulletins?

Dandan,
send me a email and I will send you a copy of the one I have. hernz396@attbi.com

I'm under the impression that the hard covers are not water tight and they aren't supposed to be. ?They have all sorts of spouts and water channels but your stuff might still get wet. ?Just make sure you put your stuff in the middle of the bed and it should stay dry.

yea!! mine leaks in exactly the same location. I haven't taken it to the dealer yet. I've got some switches on order that should come in this week, I'll have them look at it then.I'll let you know what they say. ???

Just had my AV in for replacement of the Rear Main Seal and told them about my leaking hard covers. They are ordering 3 new ones for me. It was leaking at the mid gate and soaking the piece of carpet that I had placed in the bed. When they install the new hard covers I'll let everyone know if it did any good.

The only water I get is under the rubber mat, but that is supposed to be normal. Even after a hard rain or when I use a powerwasher at the car wash - nothing on top of the mat.

bradyb is right. As long as the cargo is on the mat, it should stay dry. Just check out the TSB's with "water managment system" in the title. They explain it all. It is acceptable for water to drip down the sides, etc. It should NOT leak along the long side where the panels meet each other.

While back at the dealer to have the rear window replaced, I asked if they could take a look at a leak. Water runs down the side of the bed on the drivers side where the body, tailgate, and hard panels meet. The thing is, it dosen't leak on the passenger side so I think there should be a fix. When I picked the avy up I asked if there was any problem found? Body shop manager said it was a simple fix, the tailgate latch was out of adjustment and that water is supposed to run down the rubber seal and out the bottom...Yes it still leaks.

Had the av in for the hard covers leaking the dealer gave me a sheet on how the water managment system works. It states that under certain conditions(e.g.;heavy rains, automated car washes)some water might be present at the:
1.drainage area(51mm (2in)wide) around the back three sides of the cargo box
2.cargo box walls
3.under the cargo mat
4.endgate
5.catch cup and gutters
Maintenance tips
1.make sure all elements of te convert-a-cab are properly closed and latched(e.g., Midgate, cargo covers, endgate).
2.keep all drain grates free of leaves and otheer debris in order to ensure proper water drainage.
3.Periodically wash under the rubber bed mat and inspect the drain holes for debris in order to ensure the water management system is operating properly.

Needless to say to me this is not acceptable, this weekend i'll figure out how to fix these leaky covers

I wonder if anyone will build a one peace hard top with gas struts for lift. I imagine that the area toward the window can latch down like the 3 pc w/ hindge. Also have same latch system toward tail gate to tharwt theft?

I see reference to TSBs. Where can I find these bulletins other than the dealer?

send me a email and I will send them back to ya

I guess I'm just incredibly lucky. I have not any leaking problems even living in sogging Seattle, going through high pressure washes, heavy snow, etc. etc. I do have water under the mat (dampness would be a better word). I also have had dribbles when I open the tailgate, but that is because the seal between panel three and the tailgate is broken when you open it and the water comes down. I've seen evidence of water in the gutters, but never seen water in them. I've seen no evidence of water "flow" into the drains or say when I'm parked (small puddles in odd places). I've had no water go between the length of the panels - 1, 2 or 3 (except on the forementioned tailgate opening). I've seen no evidence of water coming through at the gutters and down the side. Also no water through the midgate - that includes when I was an idiot and closed my rear seatbelt into the midgate and had one piece of the middle bar unlatched.

We've had some serious, serious rain and snow this winter. Stuff on the mat should stay dry - period. Water coming through at the gutter is possible the system should keep it away. Water coming through the long seams on the panels is not acceptable - period, and a dealer telling you that it is is selling you a line of bull.

I tell you what I've told other people. Would I carry the Mona Lisa in a pouring rainstorm in the back from Point A to Point B? Yes - no questions about it. Would I keep six 100 pound bags of concrete back there for three months? No way in hell.

Just my two-cents...

I guess I'm lucky too. I've washed my Truck about 4 times at the high pressure car wash. (I always use the side for Semi's since there is more room) I spray all the panels and the back window. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed. :D

Since I was already back at the dealer and they weren't able to fix the leak, and the weather was nice, I figured it's time to see if I can find the problem. After some investigation I found that the end piece of the channel has a small spout that goes through the panel of the bed. There is a small foam gasket that is suppose to make a seal betweem the small piece at the end of the channel and the side of the bed. I found that the gasket was off the mark when being assembled which caused the gasket to be forced halfway through the hole, not forming any type of seal. After some silicone around the hole and a water test the next day not a drop of water. ;D
