The control assembly shouldn't be too hard to remove and check the connectors.
You pull the dash bezel off and the control module is held in with clips. Squeeze them and pull it back to access the connectors. Line up a replacement but before you buy the assembly, pop it apart and see if you find anything visible. If you mess it up, so what.. go get the replacement...It's only money!
