Hi,
I am looking for 2002 Avalanche with 129k miles.  Price seems fair but I am little worried about the high mileage.  Is there particular things I should pay more attention to?
Thank you for your help.

welcome to the club, a little more info would be helpful....is it a 1/2 ton, 4wd? etc

Sorry.  It is Z71 4WD 1500 (5.3L) all black w/cladding, blk leather sunroof, etc...
Looks nice and drives nice.  I have driven seven Avalanche past week and somehow, every one of them has the steering wheel squeak when you turn....

If you have a vin on it you can post the vin in this section and Avalanche fox can run a warranty check to see whats been fixed thru GM

an updated steering shaft has recently become available that should cure that.
are you purchasing through a private party? if so have them take it to a trusted mechanic for an inspection, have them pay particular attention to the wheel hubs and transmission. How does the cladding look? if it's oily or slick it may have been treated with something to mask the fading

Very good points..  And yes definetely have the VIN run

you can't be too careful...

check it out as thoroughly as possible...

better safe than sorry!

I was looking at an 03 with 130,000 miles before I bought my 02 recently. With that 03 I had the advantage of knowing the owner and the dealership where that vehicle was always serviced. Even then I felt that the price on that high- miler had to be low enough to make up for a rather large repair bill in the next 40,000 miles. Transmissions, rearends, transfer cases, and engines will eventually wear out or break even if they are well maintained. Factor that into the purchase price and you will have less remorse if something goes wrong with the high miler.

That said, the also well maintained 02 Avalanche that belonged to the fellow who traded in the 03 with 130,000 has run over 200,000 miles for it's second owner with no major troubles. :B:
