hello guys
anyone here running in the new 07 avys a lower thermostat that the factory 210 f

Without really making changes to the PCM programming, I'm not much of a fan of screwing with that.  Much is actually dependent on it, it's not like the olden days :)

For once I agree with Douggie..... The PCM has several tables that impact everything from fueling to airflow based on ECT... but with that said, the PCM does a pretty good job dealing with the coolant range and it's impact. I am an advocate of lower engine temps, ........unless you are in a state that does emissions testing.... :D

the emissions programs up here plug into the diagnostics port,no more rollers unless you have an "old "car

See I do listen...and learn.....

Been 20 years since I had to have any emissions testing done on anything I own.....

But let me ask this at the risk of inciting another riot.... If they are jacking into the OBD2 port and connecting to the PCM, I am assuming they are checking for sensors that are turned off and/or are they strictly looking for SES lights being set?

The whole thought process for GM for running a higher coolant temp was to reduce emissions(fuel) from collecting in the cats and burning them out...

Teach this old dog a new trick.... :D

oh your gonna love this.they look for ses lights, but also how many cycles since you reset codes or programing changes,i believe you need at least 50 cycles to pass, thus you can't reset your tune to stock and then drive over and pass (n) (n)

Smart little buggers, aren't they........ >:D

They would smell mine coming in the door....

So are they still doing a sniffer or is it strictly scan.... I ask because I could see where you could install O2 simulators and never set a SES light, and yet drive around catless.....

the older stuff goes on the rollers(sniff test) the new stuff just they just scan , although you can still fail the gas cap test  but my favorite was the undetected test, they put test probes on the driveway into the facility to catch people making dial-in setting changes in line, you can get a poluter too pass if you take out all the timing before you go in!!!

Hmmmm...then I bet my truck would pass..... other than I tend to retune the 2 BAR SD tune every other day here of late..... :E:

Speaking of which... I got my Onstar online report the other day.... Under the engine diagnostics it read...... WTF!!!!!!

True story..... :D

Well almost..... >:D It indicated that something was amiss and I should contact my local dealership immediately. Yeah right, like those guys are gonna know what to do with a 2 BAR speed density tune.... I see them reflashing in the stock tune.... don't think that the 24# injector tables is quite sufficient anymore.....

Hey Jimbo, forgot to ask.... we are cool, right.... my ankle biters seem to think we got off on the wrong foot or something.....
