So...last summer, after a new boat purchase, I was searchin' for a proper vehicle to tow the boat and haul the family. Naturally, the best, and only choice was the Avy. Using some finely honed negotiating skills recently sharpened at the boat dealer, I acquired a nifty new '06 LT, loaded, for 29K...a great deal I thought, as it was 11K under sticker (included that FABULOUS 6K rebate). A mere 3 weeks ans 800 miles later...WAMMO. Ugly crash on I95, not my fault, bye bye Avy. Three weeks of wrangling with the insurance folks, and back I go to the market. This time...I negotiated a 31K deal on an '06 LT Z71...13.5 under sticker.(the 07's were on the lot already) I was very pleased. I have owned various hondas, a lexus or two, and a large number of GM iron...this Avy won hands down as my favorite vehicle. So...yesterday, I walked out my door to an empty driveway. Apparently, the local car thief ring was equally impressed with the Avy.
Now to my point. Is the collective wisdom (I know, no one really knows) that the 2K rebate is as good as it gets? Will it get better as the '08's get on the lot? I was surprised, as I thought the car industry was having a rough time, to see that it was that low. Guess I was spoiled after my last two deals. I am trying to find a way to get something close to the same level of vehicle at something close to the same price, but not having much luck....
