Well folks - if anyone has any doubt about GM's commitment to the midgate this should flush it all the way. At the GM plant in Okalahoma City where Trailblazers and Envoys are produced, GM is suppose to start production on a smaller version of the Avalanche, probably based on the Extended version of the Chevy Trailblazer. The back end will be open with a soft cover versus the hard covered Avalanche. Sorry, no picture or word on date of production in the story. Ward's is a very reliable source on these things.

I saw spy photo of the replacement for the S-10. Supposedly, it'll be based on the Trailblazer/Envoy platform. From the camera angle, I couldn't tell whether or not it had a midgate.

Car & Driver is reporting today that GM has announced that the S-10 replacement, the Colorado will be launched in the fall of 2003 instead of the spring. The story went on to say that the S-10 replacement will be built in Louisana, not in OKC. That tells me that GM has something else up their sleeves....

Hmmmm...

Here's the news release for the Colorado ... Chevrolet's All-new Colorado Adds To Growing Truck Portfolio.

I like the look of the new Colorado...it seems to be a more aggresive truck than the s-10....at least it looks liked it gained some clearance....and should do well with the public who desire something like a smaller size pickup.... :B:

Chief - You are indeed a great source of information.

I just passed this info onto my GF. She likes my AV, but doesn't want the length... maybe I will get her to sell the Ford :)

Well, if they do come out with one, all I can say is the wifes venture is gone and hello little brother to the AV. The wife really likes the AV but will not drive it because of the size (not that I am complaining... I get it all to myself) but the smaller version would be perfect.
