Midgate Hinge Problem with JL Box

I am installing the JL box I picked up today and I have everything in place.? The JL box is connected to the upper brackets and I am putting in the lower hinges, as the directions specify:

My problem is that once I connect the hinges to the floor I cannot get the hinge to bend down far enough to connect the box.? Seems like there isn't enough room for it to move down and into place.

Any tips on what I might be doing wrong here?? It's starting to rain again and I want to finish this up so I can drive tonight.

we had this same problem with Oviedo's truck.

What we did was tilt the box forward until it matched up with the brackets. Then tilt it back into place. It helped to have two people.

Thanks for the tip, Dune!  I am stuck doing this by myself for now (how I got this far is a miracle), so I'll give it a shot or maybe call for backup.

Glad I'm not the only one who ran into this problem.

its almost like you have to lower the front of the box down like you are going to open it. this way you can get the hinges to line up.

Got it... worked like a charm!  Now I just gotta mess with the amp and see if I can get this baby to work.

Up and running!  Nice to have my bass back... and a hell of a lot more than before!

Here are a few pics...  The only other issue I have is that the flap in the bed likes to get caught on the box when I move it back up from being folded down.  Not a big deal but a little annoying.

Figured most people have already seen the JL box...

Yep, did the whole install by myself...  The hardest part was just getting the damn thing in the truck and in the right place.
