I'm in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area in Minnesota and listening... Would be interested in partaking in some sort of event.

Jamie

I would be interested in a cruise. I live in St. Louis. Any others in the Missouri area?

This is just an Idea, but I know a lot of car shows we go to around here are open to anything.... and they usually always have club participation, and if we could get the most trucks from one club there we get a prize. Plus we wouldn't have to set up anything. We just have to attend. And we can all park together. I'm up for any surrounding state. There is still a lot of car show weather left... let me know.

I'm in northern MN, I'd be up for something.

I'm originally from Bemidji, MN but I now live in San Antonio. I also have an uncle who lives near Nisswa (not too far from Lake Vermilion according to mapquest).

If you see an SOM Z-66 up there it may be me. I go up there every so often and visit the relatives or go hunting or both.

Maybe I'll see ya' around. If a cruise coincides with my next trip I might hook up with you all.

We need to get something going on as Goo and his Texas conection are making all the other regions look bad!

Jamie (Mpls/St Paul area)

I live in the southern metro of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area and am taking delivery of my AV tomorrow night...please keep me posted if there's a chance of getting a local or regional club together. I'd be willing to help coordinate if needed! ;)

im in Benson Mn thats in west central Mn by the way Ahhyeah Tight truck man very sharp i always wanted to see what scoop would look like on a Av they dont look to bad either

Anybody interested in putting together a Des Moines IA area meet this spring? From looking through this post and others, there appears to be enough Av owners within reasonable distance of Des Moines to make a one-day meet possible. For me in Omaha I'm only about 2 to 2-1/2 hours away, KC would be an easy trip and I think the Twin Cities folks could make it as well.

Des Moines sounds good this spring. I know raspar goes down there all the time so he should be up for it also.

I'm no Des Moines expert but there are a couple of things that could form a "reason" to meet. Living History Farms [[url]http://www.lhf.org/index.html/url]on the west side of town is one possibility for a destination. They have several special events lined up for 2003 that might be fun to see. The adjacent Iowa Machine Shed[[url]http://www.hoari.com/machineshed.html/url] restaurant is a great place to get stuffed! If a picnic-type meet were in order then there are numerous parks and lakes in the area, one of the larger ones at Saylorville.

Yet another possibility could be to meet in Boone, IA, about 35 miles northwest of Des Moines. Boone is the home of the Boone & Scenic Valley[[url]http://www.scenic-valleyrr.com//url] railroad, a tourist line that runs excursion trains throughout the year.

:pSorry for the repost, fixing my url tags.....

Well folks... it's about time, hee hee, just kidding. I'm from Des Moines, so let's see.... YAY YAY YAY YAY. Ok, for real, there is like 5 members here in Des Moines that I know of.... prtygirl1013, mjmenke, Kr00g, mneblung and me (ahhyeah) Most of the AV sold around here are from Karl Chevrolet. Maybe we can set something going up there. They have little shows and events all the time. They also have the second largest indoor square footage for a chevy dealer in the US. I'm a local used car dealer so we know the dealership pretty well. Living history farms is kewl if you've never been there. Saylorville lake is gorgeous. There are a lot of places in the warmer months where they haver cruise nights... Hardies, Porkys, and there's regular shows almost every weekend. The machine shed is good, and if we don't like that there is tons of resturants in West Des Moines. It's about an hour and a half to Omaha, 4 hours to Minneapolis, 5 to Chicago, 5 to St. Louis, 3 hours to Kansas City, 5 to Madison WI, and 5 hours to Springfield IL. I guess we'll see how many are interested and go from there.

mjmenke's last post was november 28th, and prtygirl1013 just joined the 20th of January, believe it or not I just realized that Kr00g and mneblung are from Iowa, .... I've thought I was going to be the only Iowan here of 5,000 members  maybe not now.... ;D

MAB, on the top of your post, you can click 'Modify' to fix your post, or 'Remove' to remove a duplicate post. I just found the remove function myself, I think it's a fairly new feature.

I will keep my eye on this thread, I think that's about 5 hours from Milwaukee. Might be do-able depending on the time frame!

Some kind of get-together in your area would be pretty cool, Doug. Des Moines isn't too far from the Twin Cities. The Minnesota group could probably caravan down to a good meeting point and follow you and your group to the destination.

Any other MN Avs up for a little road trip when the weather turns?

Jamie

Hey Ahhyeah, looks like there's quite a bit of interest in doing this. Should we start setting a date and determining what a meet could include / do?

As to overall date, I would suggest sometime in March or maybe April, at least we should be pretty much past the snow by then (we hope!). This would be a good time to find out who's going to the National, perhaps set up a cruise-in from Omaha as Chief has suggested. A saturday meet would be nice, we could either:

meet around 10-11am, cruise to a lunch spot, then perhaps something touristy (ie Living History Farms or such) then allow people to head off late afternoon,

or perhaps meet up around 1pm, cruise to some location, then have dinner together and break up afterwards.

I guess the real question here is aimed at those who might have a longer drive to get to the Des Moines area, i.e., do you want to be able to do it all in one day or would you spend a night? It's not much of an issue for me even in Omaha as it's just a little over 2 hours from my home to the Des Moines area.

Myself, I'd be doing the one-day thing. I'd leave early to be in the Des Moines area early enough. Do whatever is planned. Head home.

Jamie

I'm up for anything... I would like some more input on who's coming, and when... then I can call places and make reservations if needed. By the way... there is a indoor go-cart track right by living history farms... it's sweet!!!! I'll get some pics... and post again later.... and I'll think of so more stuff...

Just some quick info to update anyone interested...
