I saw a Silverado in Knoxville last weekend that had mirror bras on it. If I could have talked to him I would have asked about them. Anyone seen these and how do you think they would look on the Av.

I ordered some last week. They are a carbon fiber finish, along with the sport bra for the hood. I will post after they come in, and get some pics.

I'll bite
What is this bra thing.
Do ya have pics.

I understand the bra for the front grill but the mirrors?

I'm in. Give me details. Must have bra for av front end and mirrors! >:D

I bet that would look good on a Pewter AV. Nice contrast!

I'm looking into possibly getting a pair...I must have had a rock or something kick up on the highway, because I have a nice size nick on my drivers side.....makes me very :8: I thought the cladding would be the first to fall victim... :B:

I got a set of mirror bras about 6 months ago and use them mostly when in am on the highway. When I'm just driving around town they live in my left toolbox. I got them just to pretect the painted mirrors not for looks. Check out the link below for a few pics.
I also posted some more info. in another thread on Mar. 20th ( paint chipped mirrors) check it out.

Performance Products? Cool, I work 3 doors down from them, I see a walk in the future. :)

Those Mirror Bras are a great idea. I already have one chip, and that's just from one trip across the desert to the lake. :7:

These look nice. It will compete a nose bra look for those of you who own one. I love all the neat stuff people find out there.

Well I just installed the mirror bras from Performance Products and I can't say I'm all that happy. First there were no installation instructions, so I was out in the rain trying to figure out how to stretch these things on to the mirrors, and which was right and left. The confusing part is the velcro strap that I guess covers up the stretch cord? Anyway, the cord cuts across the inside corner of the mirror and I think it looks terrible. Maybe when the wrinkles in the material fade away, it will look better. Or maybe I didn't put them on right. Just seems like I could have spent $40 more wisely.

Check out www.putco.com for stainless mirror covers and other stainless stuff for the Avalanche. They have pictures of their products, but for some reason no way to order some of what they show. I have asked how, but have no answer yet. I think the s.s. covers would be better than a bra and would not interfere with any function at all.

Johnny_D,

Where did you get your X-Pel? And does it take the paint off when you remove or replace it?

Don't waste your time guys, Johnny_d has got the right idea. Unless you hate the look of your side mirrors, go for the 3M Scotchcal, It's awesome.

clear tape only works if your mirrors haven't already been hit by lovebugs... I am liking the stainless idea a lot. wonder how easy it is to put them on!? ???

I have to agree with Johnny_D and Peej_80,
I had a 3m clear "bra" installed by my dealer on the metal parts on the leading edge of my AV and on the painted part of the mirrors. I paid too much (I later found out that some local shops offer it for less than $200) but it is necessary here in Denver. My last car was sandblasted and pitted all over the front end from all of the construction crap (TREX - if you live here you know what I mean) and the billions of tons of sand that they dump here every time it flurries. Except for the fine step on the hood - it is completely invisable.

Hope it helps,
Steve

my123ju123- you are correct that Putco fails to enable eny ordering. I asked several times and questions about SS mirrors covers and no response. I suspect it is because they deal solely thru retailers and perhaps they pass the inquiries and maybe not.

Well, it's been a few months and I've finally gotten used to the mirror bras. The funny thing is that almost everyone that rides in the Av makes a good comment about them. One coworker said "what a fancy truck, the mirrors even have their own bras!"

So if you plan on putting them on, they will likely get attention. And if you're a single guy, you can say to your date "I've shown you my bra, now show me yours". Did I just say that?
