Hi Gang

Our very own KC & Andi will be a guide for a trail in the below event. I am planning to go over for the weekend with my AV and cruise with KC. Maybe even more - it would be great to have a bunch of AV's from CO, UT, NM, CA show up at this Jeep event :)

When - April 3-11th
Where Moab UT

Details
Annual Easter Jeep Safari - Easter Jeep Safari consists of trail rides, mostly day long trips, departing from Moab throughout this week long event. The official event is hosted by the Red Rock 4-Wheelers Inc. the local four wheel drive club of Moab. Participants provide their own four wheel drive vehicle, take care of their own food and non-alcoholic beverages for the trip. The club officially runs approximately 9 different trails every day, with "Big Saturday" culminating in the largest ever single trail ride departure happening - around 30 groups line up in down town Moab to head off in every direction for 30 different trails! Pre-registration for this event is recommended, although limited registration at the event may be possible. Visit the club's website for registration information or mail a request to Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc., PO Box 1471, Moab, UT 84532-1471. www.rr4w.com

If you want to go - you need to GO HERE - print the form and mail it in to get their newspaper in Jan 04 that will have the REGISTRATION FORMS.

There are no online forms

bump

One other person from CO is interested - post if you are interested in going

I would like to go, but I don't want to drive again. I would have to fly in. I called around, and all the Jeeps are already rented.

Oh man oh man oh man! I love off roading around Moab. I downloaded the form. Gunna' mail it in the morning. I hope it works with my schedule.

  :B:

I'll probably go but not for the whole week. Just a weekend and a couple of days of vacation time is all. Depending on what is going on and when the BIG saturday is. Which I would guess to be the last saturday of the event.

Darn, missing one by a couple of weeks. My wife and I will be traveling into Utah in May, to see my folks... be going right through Moab.

Mark,
I may be in. I received my letter back and am waiting on the newspaper. I would really love to go. Let's try to round up 10-12 AVs after we get more information.

Steve

Wow, this sounds very interesting!!

I'll be heading for St. George and the Escalante area for that same week, it's Spring break for us and we'll be driving down to hike the slot canyons and some first time four wheeling with my AV. Since I'll be leaving from the Seattle area on Friday night I wouldn't get down there till late Sat or Sun and then need to leave that next Sat.

How far from St. George to Moab??

I'll check the registration stuff, may not get involved with the formal 4X stuff, but still not sure of all what is offered, so I'll go check it out.

What a great opportunity to "hang out" with other AVers.....

Just got the paper in the mail today.

after reading through some of it it look like a lot of fun!

Should we put in for a group ride?

MOAB!!!!!

I got mine as well. I an still interested in going if we can get a group together. I think I will pass on the 4-5 rated trails, but am up for anything my stock truck can handle.

Sounds good too me

Big Saturday is April 10th

My plan is to drive over to Moab on April 8th - do trails on 9th and 10th and head back to CO sometime after the trails on the 10th.

I contacted Kieth at http://www.adobeabodemoab.com and he still has rooms. I stayed there before and it is nice and relaxing.

If coming from CO to UT - be careful on I70 after the CO state line - the UT state patrol watches this area very heavy. I got a ticket a couple of years ago for doing 95 :( Lucky I had to pay it in Moab and it was only $200 and my insurance didn't pick it up :)

Quick update

I booked a room at the Ramada in Moab - they were the only place I found that would allow me to bring my dog.

Once source to find rooms - http://www.go-utah.com/travel/moab-lodging.cfm?objectID=4CE278BE-4C64-11D4-AADB0050DAB32CA6

Did you see the pics of that place (Ramada), Mark?? It is a real Motor lodge - outside entrances and all. looks like it is filling up pretty quick.

I wish there was more interest. you would think we would be able to pull people from NM, AZ, NV, UT, WY, ID and CO -

I directed Eric over to this thread so maybe he will go with us - but I would guess he would take the "jeep". I told him the 7th to the 10th. I could not remember that you wanted to go the 8th to the 10th.

I am thinking I am only going to sign up for the Chicken Corners trail unless you know any specific ones to take.

fbuhler
- you look like you are beter able to take tougher trails than some of us stock trucks. Any specific trail get your attention??

Probably not going to find any better rates than what I have foiund, but am still looking.

By the way Steve, I won't be taking the Jeep. I love my Jeep, but I can't pass up a line of AV's going down the highway. Besides, my jeep would look pretty small compared to the rest of the jeeps at Moab.
So, where do I sign up for this? I talked to Corrie and she asked me if I really want to go. I said yup. And she said go ahead. She won't be able to attend, but she told me I could go. So what are the specifics for this trip?

I was just picking on you, Eric. You have to send in a registration form from the newspaper / guide they sent out. I think that you can send out a photocopy of this form. I can make you a photocopy of the form and mail it to you if you PM me with your address. Alternately, you can go the the link at the beginning of the thread and send in the form and they will send you the whole guide so you can have a description of the trails and event information.

From the looks of the response we are getting here, we may not have a line of AVs to show off.

If we want to take a large group, we need to figure out who is going because the hotels seem to be filling up pretty quickly and are not cheap. I would consider camping out and roughing it in the AV if I could find a campground - but it may be too cold at night out in the desert.

I'm planning to run the following - will be sending inmy paperwork in the next week.

Friday April 9th - Kane Creek
Sat April 10th - Hellroaring Rim
